I’m from Australia, and this is a Gitane. Custom paint job, with flopped and chopped cinelli bars, fizik arione saddle. Campagnolo vintage cranks (hand sanded and to be buffed by me), KMC Cool chain, Hillbrick Deep V’s. Conti GP4000 tyres, Shimano rear sprocket. Campag vintage brake lever, Cannondale front break caliper.

Why is this one rated so low? I like it.

Yeah, I don’t get the ratings on this site at all. Some of the bikes with extremely high ratings look like they came from a kit. I think that this bike is way cool. Good job on it!

What does the sign in the rear wheel say? I can’t make it out.

Wait, you chopped CINELLI bars and sanded CAMPAGNOLO cranks? Then got a custom…black paint job? That was a couple hundred well spent.

A 3.8? Really? A 3.8? This bike rocks. It’s simple. Highly functional. It looks great. It’s edgey. Chris, look at the All You Haters post on the fixieryder.com web site, and you’ll know how I feel about the low ratings for your sick bike. It looks great man, good on ‘ya.

It does look decent, except for the murder of Italian parts. That’s right, hendrickson, encourage ignorance. Good on ya.

I have never seen black flames. Lots of name brand parts , thankfully it does not scream CINELLI in 3 inch letters. Thanks I like the chainring and chain.

It’s like this bike is trying too hard to be trendy or something. I mean, it’s a cool vintage French frame, excellent start, with Cinelli drops, and a Campagnolo crank and lever, then oddly paired with an ultra modern Fizik Arione, Deep V’s, and a bandana? I guess I lament because the awesome vintage feels dedicated to a lost cause, and everyone fails to see this. That’s why it’s rated so low. But good luck. Cheers.

Yeah, you did murder a few fine parts it sounds like. I chop rusty pitted Raleigh 750 gram steel drops but not Vintage Pristine parts. Maybe your parts were scuffed up too. enjoy either way. Some ten speed devotees may think I am crazy to fix a 12 speed 1985 Raleigh (make in Taiwan ) with SunTour derailers but I enjoy the ride on a single fixed bike. My bars are now 370 grams, thick steel for 420 mm.

ya is a strange mix of old frame, modern wheels, trendy rag and butchered vintage parts.Chopped Cinelli,oh the humanity!

That doesn’t look like a Campy brake lever to me. Why is there a pedal/bottom bracket wrench bolted to the seat tube water bottle bosses? Is the down tube taped? I agree that this bike has potential, but as is, it has some goofy aspects.
I don’t see anything wrong with polishing Campy cranks, as long as you clear coat them afterwards.

thats a P.B.wrench bolted yo the water bottle mounts.Used to remove axle nut when you flat a long way from your tools. Then you find a presta pump for the repaired tube.easier said then done sometimes.
