sweet, I like the frame.
question: how do crank brothers hold up to iclik?
i’m currently running shimano mountain spd… thinking about switching out…

Looks very good, but i would love some better pics.

Agreed. As much time and care should go into photography in order to do the build justice. That said, it looks great. Only concern is 3/32. Track bikes traditionally run 1/8 because of the increased stress of no brakes and heavier riders. I’ve run 3/32 before and feel better with 1/8 IMO. Oh, and rim stickers.

site is about bikes not photos. Ever notice the correlation between poor bikes and poor pics? There are exceptions that proof the rule but care for one usually carries over to some degree. And modern chains can not be broken by the strongest rider whether 1/8,3/32 or the thin stuff used on 9 and 10 speed gearsets. I’m waiting to see CF chains!

Popcorn Thread!
Gentlemen, choose your weapons.. May I suggest handbags?
Oh, and i have snapped a few 3/32′s..
December 9th, 2011 @11:48 am
were they old, cheap or assembled badly? Or are you really Clark KKent-Dregg? Now I’m gonna make some popcorn in my old, cheap microwave. Cheers.
December 9th, 2011 @1:13 pm
Neither old cheap or assembled to my recollection, but circumstances might have had something to do with them failing.I have only snapped chains MTB’ing. Two where when grinding up steep trails, one was a start from stand still with pretty dumb gearing 42/11.. Enjoy your popcorn!

Edit! “poorly assembled”

Thanks for the comments guys. You may all think I am crazy but the chain is almost 30 years old! I took it off a Maruishi Road Ace and couldnt just throw it cuz it had plenty of life left. I have heard stories from my MTB friends of snapping chains but never anything on the road. I do plan on upgrading the whole drivetrain to 1/8″ as soon as I confirm that my gear ratio is perfect …and Gervais, the crank bro pedals are AWESOME. I will never go back to platforms with straps.

I’ve snapped a 3/32 chain on bmx just riding around. Not fun, nor fun walking afterward. As far as photos go sloman, without them there would be no site. All I ask for is clarity and detail, not professional-grade photography. Maybe I’m asking too much.

Dig the frame. Lose the armadillos…gators are tougher and ten times lighter.
December 10th, 2011 @4:35 am
Gee b4,it sounded like”as much should go ect…” like you were demanding perfect pics. I said good is good enough if the ride is good, great pics of a crap ride suck. Maybe we agree.
December 10th, 2011 @5:39 am
you know where i can get good chain?
December 10th, 2011 @8:49 am
I agree slo. But I need to see the details. Bad eyesight you know.
December 10th, 2011 @7:46 pm
how do you like your armadillo tires? I’m considering them for my bike.
December 10th, 2011 @11:45 pm
I’ve tried them. Amazing wear, horribly heavy, then become extremely flat.
December 11th, 2011 @6:16 am
The armadillos are amazing! It is the one and only tire I use. 5000+ miles between two sets on my road bike and only one flat (the piece of shard that caused the flat looked like it could have pierced through a tank wall). I do not skid much unless Im not paying attention so Im not sure how well they hold up to lots of skidding. And sorry about the pictures guys. The parts aren’t anything special and I did not want to bore you guys with pictures of them.

dope
December 12th, 2011 @7:57 pm
grout lines should help level that saddle. nice little bike
December 12th, 2011 @10:11 pm
Seeing a close up profile shot wouldn’t bore me.
December 13th, 2011 @7:40 am
I know that the levelness of my saddle is less than ideal but I dont get any numbness “down there” with that angle and I dont mind giving my arms a little extra work. And with the multiple requests for closeup pics I would love to post more pictures (especially since I switched up the handlebar/stem setup) but I do not know how. I assume I would have to make a new post? Thank you again for the positive comments.

the one style of frame where a slight downward slope to the saddle is ok. Still level with the top tube and your spine. and like you said, not excessive arm workout.
December 13th, 2011 @9:06 am
Yes, Logan, you’d have to do a new post. Sometimes you can’t get the saddle perfectly level. That’s the case with my fixed gear. It drives me nuts but I tried everything.
