Nice bike! small GI ratio though.

yeah i know. cant go fast with it. but its okay cause im only riding in the city.

why is my bike rated so high? there are much better bikes on this site…
January 27th, 2010 @8:55 pm
You are too humble. Your bike is a basic classic fixie with good colors. Some of the really classic bikes are stuck at less than 7 and some ugly stuff is only .5 lower at 6.3. A diverse voting audience apparently. nice bike .

Cool frameset. Columbus tubing? I can see the dove sticker on the forks. My only suggestions would be a classic Cinelli stem in silver. Think it would visually pull the whole front of the bike together. The black stem seems out of place here. Plus the angle of a classic Cinelli road stem will pick up the same horizontal line of the top tube. Not to mention go perfectly with the drops.

nice one ng…

bike looks different now.
i discovered that the frame was all chrome under the paint so i started stripping the old paintjob off the frame.
right now i have the frame in all chrome + yellow cinelli alter stem + either chrome track bar or risers.
i like it even though people may hate me for removing the paint.

Cool. The Alter stem is an awesome piece. It commands attention. I have one on my second fix. I love how you can see right through it to the road. You should post an updated photo. I bet the chrome looks great.

Fucking awesome! Put a bigger chainring on, some clipless pedals, and take that baby out to the track! Centurions are great great track bikes!

i will pretty much always say “tape the bars” in most cases on here but im going to skip that this one time because this is still a very cool build lol
i would switch the tires but whatev. ;p

wow and you say i have no style? this thing is soooo boring, not to mention your front wheel’s going to be stolen.
July 24th, 2010 @8:38 am
you should know that i dont care
July 24th, 2010 @9:21 am
But you care enough to call me out on my style. Interesting.
July 24th, 2010 @9:24 am
Non driveside and brakeless, excellent.
July 24th, 2010 @9:26 am
I really like this frame though, especially the fade. I’m going to try drops on my next project bike, as much as I’ve rallied against them. They just look cool and vintage.
July 24th, 2010 @11:05 am
This is a beautiful, classic bike. And in a totally different league than a certain aluminum ride (and no I don’t mean this one is worse). Votes don’t lie. Especially 197 of them
July 24th, 2010 @11:12 am
luft- i have to disagree w you on this one. i like it. i dont think its lacking style. sometimes having a loud, original style isnt best. some find it impossible to build a simple, clean bike.
daniel-ive mentioned before on here, i got a connection with an old bikeshop in my hometown thats been closed for almost 15yrs and i got a bunch of NOS parts..one being an old cinelli quill. im not using it but i see you found an alter. from looking at it, it is obvious its been sitting in a glass case since the early 80′s. no marks from being installed in a steerer tube.
July 24th, 2010 @11:51 am
this has a timeless style that a Langster type frame will never have. This could be a fresh frame or 30 years old.It doesn’t need garish hilights,it makes a statement all its own.
July 24th, 2010 @11:58 am
slo-i totally agree. if you put this bike in storage and pulled it out 30years later, it would still be high quality and ready to go. a langster would look outdated and would look like an “outdated trend-cycle”

@jcore
sorry my englisch is imperfect. i dont understand what youre aiming at with your comment:

sorry i dont really understand what you mean. are you saying my alter stem looks like it was sitting in a glass case? or your vintage cinelli stem?
its really cool that you have this connection to the NOS parts. i wish something like that would happen to me.
July 24th, 2010 @1:38 pm
Outdated, garish, trendy, low voted and classless, got it.
July 24th, 2010 @1:56 pm
It’s cool guys, I have a dated, trendy, garish, classless aluminum fixed gear. Point taken.
September 13th, 2010 @9:39 pm
this popped up again today. It is lovely. and your recent tirade’s against the “use a brake” argument suddenly have a “put your money where your mouth is” aspect which works in your favor. If you are going to go brakeless, choosing a gear ratio like the one you have makes the decision make more sense. Then you don’t go too fast and suddenly it all comes together. toche’
September 14th, 2010 @2:54 am
yeah it kind of does. but as i said will get a front brake soon.
problem is i will also have to get a new fork!
September 14th, 2010 @5:45 am
Fork is beautiful, can you compromise and go with a brake on the rear if there is mounting room ? Sort of a crime if it is a True track bike, keep it original unless you can get the proper fork predrilled. Is front drum an option ?
September 14th, 2010 @6:02 am
Daniel, never made the connection to this ride before.lots of cred here for sure.nice ride guy.enjoy
September 14th, 2010 @8:17 am
@ wsb it is a “real” track frame. so there are no drillings for brakes.
i would love to get a new straight chrome fork with drilling. or i could use a clamp on brake…
dont really know what to do. cant wait to get my hands on my new bmx cruiser and will ride that for the next weeks i think^^. so looking forward to it!!
@sloman thank you very much!
@fabfive yeah its a 42/16 gearing. its really easy to stop.
September 14th, 2010 @10:51 am
Daniel would it be possible to buy a wheel with the drum brake on and use the same fork ? You already have the quick release skewer and buy a brake lever with the swing type fastener to avoid tape on bars.
September 14th, 2010 @2:25 pm
i`d rather buy this :
http://www.singlespeedshop.com/start.htm?d_41363_Dia_Compe_Track_Brake____front.htm
oh and the bars are not in use anymore. the no tape thing was for looks only.haha once my hands slipped from the sweat i had to think again
this picture is pretty old by the way. the frame is still in everyday use. i got risers on..i think the drops look much better but i just cant get used to anything but risers.
you wouldnt like how the bike looks right now…but thats okay witch me.
yeah i think i will have to invest for that dia comp brake…
September 14th, 2010 @2:39 pm
Ya sehr schon aber nicht billig. 58 euro !
von Deutchland oder Japan gemakt ?
September 14th, 2010 @2:52 pm
Daniel – an option i used recently that wasn’t that bad are the Soma forks. They are all predrilled and come in threaded threadless, as you wish. The pake ones are cheaper but are more straight blade, whereas the Somas fit better with your rig. It is admittedly a pity, but if it were me would opt for a new, drilled fork over a clamp-on (being said with NO experience whatsoever with clamp-ons)
September 14th, 2010 @2:53 pm
*threaded AND threadless
September 14th, 2010 @2:54 pm
At least your front wheel is already machined
September 14th, 2010 @4:22 pm
thats not the front wheel i use now. but the new one is a polished dp18 and has machined sidewalls too. i dont know ..id rather not buy a new fork…to expensive for me. new fork, brake, lever….
ja wsb 58euro sind sehr teuer :/
ich weiß nicht wo die dia compe bremsen gemacht werden. auf jeden fall nich in deutschland.
hope you understood haha
