Pictures taken outside is a plus, no washing machine or dog bowels in sight. Good looking bike with only a couple of labels that should be removed. Nice lite weight fixie with matching tyres for the mature taste and would go well with my gray hair. It has a front brake/ Good Move!
The Chain Wheel is a thing of Beauty. the blue color is Kool as well the wheels match! no cards in the spokes and it is the color of an Iceberg. Decent!
this is okay but it’s not amazing, it’s basically a Natural Light theme. two things–you mentioned you’d never be caught with risers—and how far from risers is a straight bar exactly? second–what’s more cliche then deep v’s? cheers kiddo
luftmensh, i know deep v’s are very cliched, it’s a shame, i trying to get some money to buy a Mavic Cosmic Pro rim.
Second, i changed some more parts. i’m using some Cinelli Tempo bars along with a Cinelli Alter stem.
Cool. I don’t mean to give you a hard time. I’m glad to hear about the future Mavics. I noticed you changed to drops and a quill stem. Was that a 3t mutant you had before?
These classic road frames really inspire me to do conversions. I’m excited for the first ride of my Raleigh conversion project. It’ll probably be 52-17, which I hope won’t be too murderous to try on the crazy hills in my area.
52-17 was great for speed and decent for the hills but not my type of gear. I changed it to 52-13 when I stole the 17 back from the SGP. I don’t know how many gear inches that is but I know its top speed is in the 35MPH+ range. For me 42-17 is just fine. Spinning doesn’t bother me a bit. Cheers.
52/13 = 105.24 inches Luftie. Done my best 25 tt on that kind of gear.1hr 10mins. My bro started a min after me and went past after 15 miles. Bastard!!! I used to kick his arse on the hill climb though. Ha,ha. Wouldn’t want to touch it these days. You must have thighs of iron mate.
Nice shot!! Guys, come on, I didn’t say I rode it with 52-13. With the hills around here and no brake it’d be suicide during the day. Hell, now I wanna try it at night. I’ll see if I can mash it up to 55 and get a speeding ticket. But, in my defense, even with 42-17, the hills are mountainous around here and I’m getting pretty built.
Alan, that’s funny, I kick my brother’s A on the hills, too. He’ll blow past me with his 46-15, then at the bottom of the hill I’ll catch up spinning like a fiend, and smoke him standing climbing up the hill. Cheers.
scary/funny story – In irvine, there’s this huge hill called Ridgeline. its about 3/4 mile high and a mile long and is feared by most fixed gears and even some single speeds. Me, ramzy, dante, anthony, quailian and isiaih went down it. 53/16 helped me A LOT. i blew past all of them and went down, fearless. i was spinning madly and going the same pace as the cars which i dont know how fast it was but im guessing +35mph. i had my head down and down on my pursuits. i looked up and a gust of wind just evaporated all the water on my eyes and i started to tear. then, i felt my shoe tightening. i looked back down and saw my shoelace wrap around the spindle of my pedal. i thought i was going to crash, but since my shoelace was fraying on one section of the lace it broke. I finished ridgeline, tearing and with half a shoelace. best ride i had. hope to go again and record it with my camera.
I recently got some velcro fastening trainers to use on the bike. Got fed up with having to tuck the ends of my laces under the eylet crosses. Flappy trousers can be risky too. I’ve had trousers catch on the bottle cage. Not a prob on free, but fixed can rip your strides and leave you thirsty.
I agree with Sloman, change is hard and I liked this issue before the sex change and name change. Old friends are good and hard to say good bye to. Serve Cold was Hot. Breath of Ice gives me the chills.
wow, new front wheel, bars and brakes can make a BIG difference. Recently bought blue tape and put a blue tire on the front wheel. maybe it will even out the blue black and silver.
you know what i think…piece of shit bikes get rated the highest cus the ppl doing the rating have pieces of shit like this haha…stop hating on real bikes you queers!!!
@ Leader735tt aka Kamel, It’s to bad that you’re not intelligent enough or mature enough to express yourself effectively. You sound like an idiot and you’re making yourself look worse with each dumb comment you post.
@Leader735tt…Maybe you’re not Kamel….Just found your bike. Do you know Kamel? Are you two related? He was an idiot. You sound a lot like him. And you both ride Leaders. Weird. Good luck with your attempts at insulting people. It’s amusing and sad…then amusing again.
nice build..i like this one. clean and simple..nothing outrageous. it will look better with the mav cosmic pros, but until then your still riding a nice one!

why the fuck is this thing rated so high??

Excellent question Daniel. Could be that the voting system here runs on “Diebold” machines. Or his brother may be the governor of the state.

52>17 is 82.6 gear inches. That’s pretty gnarly for the road. But hey maybe you’re into sadism.

May 23rd, 2010 @4:39 pm
Rags would be a step up for a lot of my biking kit. Need some new shorts. The chamois is starting to get thin in mine.
