This is a 1973 Japan built Sekine. It hung for years in a friends basement and he was finally going to throw it out. I decided to rescue it because of the striking colour and because it was such a good fit for me. I didn’t want to spend a lot on it, but it needed a lot of work! Rear rim and axle, left crank arm, pedal and bars were all bent. I relaced the original Shimano 333 hubs to a set of 27″ Araya alloy rims, staying with the original 4-cross pattern. Frame and fork were in reasonable shape so I decided not to repaint them. The bottom bracket and headset just needed cleaning and regreasing (loose bearings, not cages). There was no seatpost or saddle included. My goal was to use as many of the original, or at least period correct, parts as possible. I’m happy with the result, and it’s a nice smooth ride! Gearing is 40:17 because it is very hilly where I live. Let me know what you think.
