Hello from Ljubljana, Slovenia.
this is my first custom made fixie bike. I thought this is gonna be a winter project, but i already finished it. bike is build on italian pinarello frame from early 80′ – frame is newly painted. I used weinmann dp18 wheelset, FSA gimondi crankset 48t (rear cog 16t), shimano ultegra 600 seatpost, brooks saddle, nitto pearl 9 stem, MKS sylvan track pedals, nirve grips. the goal was to make a bike with a retro/vintage look. i hope you like it.

level the saddle so it is parallel to the ground. other than that it is an excellent build, nice job!

Don’t level your saddle. If that is what fits you, it will be all right.

Don’t listen to brianrbr. Level your saddle. It will take stress off your wrists and keep you from sliding forward. There is no reason to have your saddle anything but level.

lol saddles angled at the headset fit NOONE, your sitbones need a level plane to sit on. angled down and you slip forward and you are putting all your weight on your wrists and hands. angled up and you are destroying your taint.

You hacked off the derailleur hanger on an 80′s Pinarello!!??? MASSIVE FAIL!!! What a waste.

AAGGHH! ng is right! A FAIL and capital offence!

At least he didn’t spray paint it lime green, then throw on some orange Deep V’s and every other neon part he could find to make it look like a pack of skittles. I’d say he did a very good job, and if it gets ridden, that’s what matters. Probably getting ridden more now, then it was as a road bike.

Sorry guys, but you as a frame experts should noticed that this ain’t no fancy pinarello, but the simple entry level of it. I got mine for 20 euros with stem and some old cranks. Also italy is only one hour away, where you can get old bikes like bianchi for less then 50 euros – on a garage sail. So i really don’t know why is this redesign such a Massive fail for you??? If i would not intercept this frame it would probably end on a dumb. So finishing it this way…i KNOW i did a good job. greetings.

An unlevel saddle will fit the day you have a misshapen pelvis.
@ ng: better to be ridden as an altered fixed gear than to rust as a road bike.

not nessecary to cut tab to convert. This is what makes me dislike convos, once its cut there’s no going back.

and all-a fixed is a road bike, just not a geared road bike.

I like it, but I don’t love it, should have kept the hanger, like the others said.

@ sloman: i realize fixed gears fit into the “road bike” category, but i never refer to them as road bikes. only as fixed gears or single speeds. you wouldn’t call someone who rides fixed gear a “roadie” would you?

nope.just stating the obvious. Pedantic to be sure.

Just because you got some great deal on your frame and it’s only an “entry level” Pinarello doesn’t make it cool to hack it up. There are plenty of inexpensive, very decent framesets to be had with actual track fork ends. Cutting off the derailleur hanger isn’t fooling anyone. Save the road frames.

I’d take this bike to pound town even with the hanger cut off!

I’d cut it twice just make sure the roadie inside of it was dead. Then I’d level that saddle. Maybe get black tires. The white walls work, but I think a good pair of black ones would look cleaner.

Very nice job. I just love the look of single speed bikes.
