Trust fund baby, anyone? At first I was gonna say sick as hell, but then I took another look and realized how random this bike is. Track frame with hardcore carbon track wheels and carbon fork, then a Paul Pure street crank, BMX stem, risers, Ourys and Brooks? Really? I understand the concept pro street but a little planning never hurt anyone. At least throw a track seat and crank on there, Fizik and Miche Advanced or something. While you’re at it, throw a STEAL ME spoke card in there too.

luft i’m going to have too really agree w/ uyou on this i think it was posted 3 times each w/ more crazy expensive parts. it doesn’t make any sense fgfs frame hardcore track wheels etc… but what i like is this dude is obviously out of control i would love to what his deal is to spend this type of cash on this frankenstein.
Maybe he’s an xtc raddled youth who likes arguing with the
mailbox and ripping off his dad’s mastercard. Or maybe he’s the card clad dad trying to
“fit in.” Who knows?
That thing could feed my family and pay my bills for quite some time. It’s like a hodge podge of eye candy and a maxed out credit card. Cool stuff but not all together.
I’m in love with my cheap, Kilo TT frame. The machinery making frames (or anything else mass-produced these days) are more reliable and accurate then ever before. My opinion: truly expensive frames are less critical then the bits. A really great “bargain” frame with good parts will be a greater value and more fun. Seeing an expensive frame with crappy parts? Thats much worse. Yes, striking the balance is (I suppose) the way to do it and I kind of sort of agree with you guys but what fun is that? I like the pretty ones too but the most fun on this site is seeing oddly matched components that crazily might just work. Are there any boutique, handmade track frames that are really appropriate for the street anyway? I don’t really like this bike’s Frankenberry looks but it sure has attitude. One might grow to love it after a few miles. Yes, odd combinations but its not a “Hi, my name is Gabe from Buttfuck Pennsylvania” disaster. This might be better thought out than you think.

btw this bike w/ a cheaper silver velocity or h+son wheelset silver stem/post/bars no red chain or grips would be fresh. looking @ it again i really like the brown brooks against the pink. this set up isn’t horrible i wouldn’t do it but to each his own.
jqnyc is right about there being lots of good, affordable, new frames out there.Aluminum or steel the Kilos ect. have a place in the new build market.Wouldn’t buy one built up by someone else but bare frame means you can get the proper size and put good(not cute-expensive)parts as you go.I will always be looking for an old lugged survivor, but if I was building new Kilo or Fuji A2 look good.Just size it right.cheers and please not pink.
The Kilo TT (Stripper version) I got from Bike Island feels less stiff and might be a tad less aggressive then the Bare Knuckle (I got from Bike Biz). But who knows? It might be the relationship of geometry, sizing and the particulars of my body. The Bare knuckle is cool looking but more than twice the price. The Godzilla is pretty cool too for a few hundred more. Subjective opinions but the Kilo is easily a better value –its lines, fit and finish please me. Bike Island as a bunch of interesting steel frames for less than $300. One is nickel-plated.

When I see a wheel set and saddle like that on a bike with riser bars and platform pedals a little part of me dies on the inside.

Perhaps a little too Frankenberry. Still, I’d like to take it for a quick spin, just to see how it rides.
June 13th, 2010 @8:51 pm
wouldn’t mind having those wheels
June 13th, 2010 @10:17 pm
actually that volume frame is relatively cheap. the mix of fgfs parts w/ high end racing wheels and a brooks is a bit weird.
