Is this a clock or a bike? looks backasswards to me. A picture with no explanation. I say it is a work of art that is locked in place. No one can steal this by riding off on it apparently. Two chains locked up. Very original indeed. Can you ride this? I am once again in the dark. Thanks Ed with one chain doing fine.

So why is this not in the top ten right behind Blue Steal? put a little red wagon behind it with Obama’s Dog.

Okay, I’m intrigued. What is the implications of 180 degree difference in ratio from left side to right. Or, however you would explain this get up. Downside: it adds weight but Im curious!!! Whats going on here and can I take it for a test spin to see what its like? Would my left calf-muscle atrophy? Please… someone explain… in English!

I believe what he has set up is a dual-freewheel, which acts as a fixed gear in real-time, but has different ratios making it really easy to brake, while keeping a high gear ratio.

Fascinating. Never heard of it… news to me. Do I want this?

Makes a little sense now. The front chainwheel is a freewheel at the crank on the left and conventional on the right. i.e. the left chain is motionless until asked to back pedal for braking. I had a 76 Montgomery Ward 10 speed which had the Shimano front freewheel system. stripped it for parts and tossed the frame. The rear cassette is fixed. Would be interesting to try this set up but a front brake is lighter for sure.

interesting but why not just have a simple rim mount brake? also, the plaques are a little much, the seat seems overly modern for this retro look, and the black chainrings/crank drastically contrast with the neutral silvers and grays. I would do either a black NOS or Brooks and maybe a silver shimano crank.
