Yeah it’s a 10!
March 25th, 2011 @9:09 am
Really nice! I gave you 9 because it would look even better with all black tyres and I don’t like the stem.
March 25th, 2011 @9:18 am

Guys, many thanks for your comments. I bought this frame in San Diego, I have to admit it is a beautiful frame. Details of the lugs on the head tube and seat tube also on top of the fork are outstanding. It is tight clearance frame. I just transfer my old set up from http://www.myfixedgear.net/makino-njs. The main reason I switched to this frame is that my old makino was too small, this reminton sz 55 is perfect for me. Anyway, thanks again for your positive comments, I still could not found panaracer without gum walls. I admire your consistent passion with fixed gear and liking your comments e.g. Ng,sloman, illdthedj … Where ever you are … Keep on riding guys! Cheers, BA

Great!!!

so tight!!!

If this work of art only gets a 7.25 with 53 votes I am seriously doubting the expertise on this website.
An ultimate fixed gear consists of good frame geometry paired with high end parts that add to the riding experience. Let me repeat: add to the RIDING EXPERIENCE.
Only when that ultimate experience is reached we can mix / match parts so it also looks nice. This bike here is a fantastic harmony between both, if you’re familiar with the parts you will know this has a perfect chain-line and runs silently and efficiently as can be.
Most high-rated bikes here only have well matched parts from a spectator’s point of view. What does that tell us about the raters / commentators?
March 27th, 2011 @6:50 pm
Thank you for your opinion, Peter. I do agree this bike is insanely dope.. BUT, Are you seriously trying to preach that you cannot personalize your ride with it it having the most high end parts on the market? 99.5% of the people on the website don’t even ride on a track, so who needs 150$ seat post with the name “Thompson” on the side of it? Don’t try to front.. when it comes to bikes- looks ARE important.
March 27th, 2011 @7:22 pm
@peter: you have much more expensive pedals for your bike … Nuevos are seriously expensive
March 27th, 2011 @7:56 pm
agree with all the positives in the comments above
March 27th, 2011 @9:19 pm
BA, I live in San Diego. Did you get this frame from Velo Cult?
March 27th, 2011 @11:08 pm
@ng: yes I did from velo cult. My contact there is tom, very nice bike store coz they sell a lot of vintage frames.
March 27th, 2011 @11:30 pm
Yeah baby! Steel is real!!!
March 28th, 2011 @9:00 am
PERFECT. 10*

Peter:
rating here is silly. basically i view voting like this:
after about 100 votes, a 7 is basically a 10. maybe 7.5 is a 10, ie absolutely perfect. but yah, lots of lurkers, and lots of people simply giving 1 out of 10 because it isn’t their bike, or isn’t their particular style…im guessing lots of clueless teenaged hipsters whose idea of a 10 out of 10 is 6 different mismatched colored components and a front aerospoke. damn whippersnappers.
March 28th, 2011 @12:10 pm
@Nick O
Don’t get me wrong, I don’t believe in high-end seatposts. They’re more for the man that already has everything. (Got a relatively cheap one myself as well.)
If one focuses on bling while ignoring the advantages of a perfect chainline, stiff cranks and chainring, short wheelbase, and old-school adjustable BB it’s hard to deny one is a poser.
Think of ‘em as sportscars. It’s not the carbon fiber dashboard that makes it go fast. It suits a high-end sportscar but would look silly on a Fiat Panda. Track bikes and their parts were made with performance in mind, but some are more essential than others. No-one can deny that something that looks like a Ferrari but has a 1.0l engine is a little silly. Now project that thought on track bikes and you might appreciate my point.
@AB
Luckily I got them 2nd hand so didn’t pay too much but yeah the new price is crazy.
@illdthedj
Excellent points!
March 28th, 2011 @12:21 pm
Have to add my 2 cents on the seat post topic. I had a Campy Chorus seat post snap in two under the clamp. I weigh a hefty 165 lbs. I was really lucky I didn’t eat major shit going as fast as I was. I now ride with a Thompson elite.
March 28th, 2011 @12:31 pm
Good point, one I didn’t think of before. I’m a relatively small guy, only 140 lbs, so I guess most stuff holds me.
Thinking of Campy snapping, there’s also a known problem with those early Campy track cranks snapping when skidding. Being 40 years old or more, age and metal fatigue probably play a part here.
March 28th, 2011 @1:20 pm
I experienced the same thing with the weird rating here. Once I even calculated how much was rated to drop it so much and it was one star. I guess illdthedj is right about the hipster teenagers. By now I just give a fuck on the ratings and enjoy reading the nice comments.
This bike here is the killer! If this is a 7.06 I can’t even picture a 10. I’m so jealuos about you having that bike. Still would change the tyres and stem;-)
March 28th, 2011 @1:44 pm
“Ratings” are a joke. The fact that anyone with absolutely no experience or knowledge of what they’re looking at can vote is why ratings don’t mean shit. The comments tell all.
March 28th, 2011 @8:24 pm
So amazing!
April 3rd, 2011 @1:47 pm
I wish I could rate it again, like Sloman pointed out. Still one of the most beautiful bikes I’ve seen to date, and the best on this site in my opinion.
