PROVE IT

You know what would help it kill fools off the line?? Drop bars, clipless pedals and a larger chainring. Without that, the fools you’re racing must not know that they’re in a race.
September 13th, 2009 @8:46 pm
UMMMM they are clipless fool, drop bar…all talk!! larger chain ring ummmm?
September 13th, 2009 @8:49 pm
So larger gear in the front makes you go faster of the line? I would think that would reduce your speed off the line…. retard and those pedals really look clipless, retard, drop bars are for fags that like to bend over, retard.
September 14th, 2009 @5:20 am
newcastle, do you know bikes outside of your trendy little fixed gear conversion world?
Clipless pedals are the pedals that you use a shoe with a cleat on the bottom to lock into. They’re called ‘clipless’ because originally toe cages were referred to as cleats, so you were able to lock into your pedal with out a ‘clip’ on it. Also, clipless pedals allow you to not only push down while you pedal but also efficiently pull up. You can pull up with toe cages, but its not as effective because you’re pulling against small strips of leather and metal instead of an entire strapped on shoe. Being able to pull up while you’re pedaling means that you can use different muscles while riding and you have an extra half of your stroke instead of just one from pushing down. When you’re riding on platform pedals, which is what this bike has, you only have downward force and your feet are not attached to the bike and it is not conducive to racing.
Drop bars allow you to position your hand parallel to your body instead of perpendicular which gives you more leverage when pulling hard for a sprint and pedaling in general. The dropped position allows you to put more of your body over the bike while pedaling and because you’re bent over you’re more aerodynamic. With flat and riser bars you can still pull, but you don’t get as much leverage because of your hand position. They may be good for maneuverability, but if you’re talking about racing people the amount of leverage you give up is too much, plus with drop bars you have parallel AND perpendicular hand positions on the same bar.
As far as the gear ratio, I can’t count the teeth, but on a fixed gear bike that’s used for commuting the ratio is normally not big enough for actual racing. Because the rear cog is harder to change than pulling the chainring off of the spider, an easy way of altering your gear ratio is by putting on a larger chainring and then adjusting your rear wheel in your dropout to account for the amount of chain you’ll need. If you’ve got a commuter sized rear cog (like a 16 or 18) on a normal front chainring you’re not going to be able to get enough power into your pedaling without burning your legs out from over spinning. Racing is less about the size of each individual gear you’re using and more about the over all ratio that those two gears create.
Also, projection is a sign of repression so you may want to get comfortable with your homosexuality. As stupid as you are its going to be hard enough finding another idiot that would be willing to sleep with you, retard.

If you haven’t figured it out yet in that small head of yours I am fucking with you in all your post, the fact that you take this much time on a website to comment on peoples bikes shows how useless you are as a human being. I could care less about clipless pedals and drop bars, I know the advatages of them but your commenting on a urban commuter not a track bike retard!!! Go to YouTube search performance that’s you all day fag!!!
September 14th, 2009 @10:10 pm
Well, since you’re taking so much time to look up my posts to fuck with me you should notice that most of the posts that I make are pretty quick. I only take the time to write out long posts for stupid people to try to cram a bit of knowledge into their heads. Obviously in your case this did not work.
I know we’re talking about urban commuters. I commented the way I did because he was referring to killing fools off the line which would pertain to racing, and this bike is obviously not set up for racing.
The only reason I even feel like replying to your post is not because I feel like commenting to you, but more because it just further highlights to everyone else reading how much of an idiot you are.
People can ride whatever they want. This bike is actually not that bad for a commuter, but call it what it is, a commuter.
You’re just in it for the fad. It will pass and you’ll be gone so who cares what you think? I don’t.

September 15th, 2009 @10:56 pm
Cant we all just get along? Newcastle you really might want to look into the projection thing.

October 16th, 2009 @7:05 am
How do I prove that I would love to race you yuck?
October 16th, 2009 @8:27 am
CS….do you even own a fixed gear bike??
October 16th, 2009 @8:30 am
Yuck, yes I do.
October 16th, 2009 @8:32 am
Yea, I just saw it…. Motobecane Le Champion, I thought you were not trendy , so what’s with the cards??
October 16th, 2009 @9:08 am
I put on cycling events and make spoke cards in them. All of the cards were from races and events that I and the groups I work with put on. Spoke cards have been around before the trend btw. Trendy would be to put parts onto my bike that limit its functionality and serve no real purpose just because everyone else is.
October 16th, 2009 @9:14 am
I take that back. I looked at the cards and some of them are from other rides that I’ve been on. We’ve done a number of other events since then so the cards i have for them are different now. At that point I had only been to 4 events on that bike and I’ll only put the cards onto the bike I did the event on.
October 16th, 2009 @9:22 am
Cards do go way back, I believe they were originally used to identify a specific polo team and player number. However, if you ever want to ride, I am in northern cali…
October 16th, 2009 @9:31 am
From what I know, cards were originally used to designate riders in alleycat races. They were originally playing cards with numbers on them and then over time they’ve become more elaborate. I don’t know about them in relation to polo so I couldn’t say for sure which was first, but either way yes they do go way back.
I’m in the midwest so that would be a long haul for a ride, but if you’re ever flying east let me know and I will organize a race specifically so that we can go head to head.
October 20th, 2009 @3:35 pm
Midwest…… thats why your so lame! Come out to cali me and yuck ride all the time I’ll race you, any day, anytime, anywhere! Yuck will destroy you!!
October 27th, 2009 @10:18 am
I guess if we’re just stereotyping people my response will be ‘Cali? no wonder why you’re self involved and stupid.’ You sure do talk a lot of shit knowing there’s no way you can prove any of it to anyone. The only thing you’re proving is that you know nothing about cycling, sentence structure, conversing with others, etc. It’s too bad you never have anything real or intelligent to add to a conversation.

I give cs a 10 for his reply to Newhassle on 14 Sept. I do like Yuck’s bars and wrap, but the 39/16 gearing is super spining for sure. I would like to see a race with this lowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww of a gear. I learned something from this post and comments but lighten up a bit you guys. Thanks
February 4th, 2010 @6:50 pm
Bunch a ten year old girls on a playground. I dig the bike but that wrap doesn’t match at all. I ride 42-17 and it’s good for the hills and pretty quick off the line.
February 5th, 2010 @3:37 pm
38:16….Kills fools off the line huh? I’ll bet….up to about 20 yards and you’re spun.
March 20th, 2010 @9:30 am
Yeah 39/16 tops out about the same as my 42-17, in the low 20mph range, which sucks, because my bro flies past me with his 46-15. That’s why I’ll try out 42-13 and see how 30mph works out.
March 20th, 2010 @9:43 am
This looks like a stock Felt, Curbside –2009 edition, minus the (matching red saddle) red top tube protector but with non-stock tires. I’ve ridden one its … just okay. Im not a fan.
March 20th, 2010 @9:49 am
I’m 46>16 and there are plenty of hills here in Diego. Many of which are gnarly grades. I’m sure you’ll adjust quickly and get a lot stronger faster than you’d think.
March 20th, 2010 @2:06 pm
39/16=2.4375 42/17=2.4706 46/16=2.875
March 20th, 2010 @2:24 pm
Luftmensh How is 42/13 3.230769231 working out? Did you get smaller wheels to lower the gain. These figures assume circumference is a constant factor.
April 1st, 2010 @7:58 am
Wow, very nice. How does one stop quickly w/o toe clips?
April 14th, 2010 @4:42 pm
That was awesome!
September 29th, 2010 @4:47 pm
I feel sorry for this bike. Melted down, it would make for a nice end table because: The colored parts are randomly scattered, which doesn’t make for a unified color scheme; the light brown leather bar tape comes from out of nowhere; no cages/straps and no brake (basically no way to stop except leverage, which you probably won’t have in an emergency); the frame tubing is misshaped, the top tube is literally twisted, and even the chainstays slope downward (why?); and the fact that “yuck” is racing with risers, leather grips, no brake, no cages/straps, and runs a ratio beaten by most golf carts. Sorry, I didn’t mean to go “Luftmensh” on him, but reading through these comments just set something off inside me.
September 29th, 2010 @5:50 pm
I think you’re being kind of harsh, and you seemed to catch yourself as well. I don’t mind this bike. It doesn’t strike me in anyway offensive. And It has to weigh near-to-nothing. If you are going to go modern aluminum, mating a carbon fork seems appropriate. The lack of a brake or foot-retention is unfortunate.
September 29th, 2010 @7:49 pm
This bike is okay, improvable with effort, but “yuck” wasn’t exactly the Mr. Rogers of MFG. A builder’s character can do so much or so little for the build itself.
