Nice job! Looks great!

Would’ve given the bike a 10 if you had no brakes on… Sick bike nonetheless…
September 18th, 2009 @2:21 pm
Looks cool. Def leave the break. It would look better with bar tape on it I think.
September 18th, 2009 @4:44 pm
Yes bartape no brake.
September 20th, 2009 @6:01 pm
Why? What is the benefit of riding without a brake? Someone give me one valid and practical reason to commute on a bike without a brake.

To thin out the gene pool?

i got one break and if i notice that it won´t be enough, i install the second one. but so far, i had no problems breaking with one.
and there are a lot of other bike here which have no brakes, so why complaining about my bike ?!?
sooner or later i will install an smaller bar. but no bartape, because it should look puristic. only the absolute essential parts.

Ha Scozzy, good good point.
Yeah hans, I only have one break on mine and it suits me well. I think the trendiness of not having a break is a horrible idea and no one can give a valid reason (other than Scozzy) for taking them off.
I do like the idea of a minimal configuration on a fixed gear. If that’s what you’re going for then your bike is perfect. Nice bike.

my intention was to do a kind of art with this bike. of course, it should ride perfect but the appearance was also very important for me. and i like this puristic style of art.
so my bike should look like this.
although i know that riding without breaks is not very recommendable.
but at the moment i get along with one break.

I have soul brakes an they suite ne fine too my eyes an ears do the rest what else u need fixed gear is what it is no bull
September 22nd, 2009 @2:05 am
Yea no breaks is not recommendable but guess what a fixed gear bike was the first bike ever invented and I have been riding them long before the “fad” was ever around stop all the complaints about non brake riders, I ride em for fun, for the nostalgic “fad”!!!! We shouldn’t ever ride a bike beacuse it has no brakes that would be wrong and unsmart, and irresponsable, and a death wish and uncalled for…….. Suck a giant cock and die u all suck fat salty nuts that keep complaining about no breaks go sit on your moms cock and die!!!!!!

Newcastle: Your wit is boundless. Your ability to cuss is uncanny. I bow at your unwavering onslaught of foul language to get your “message” across. What Burger King location do you work at? I would love to drive through at give you a tip.
September 22nd, 2009 @2:27 pm
Haha… Funny one, Scozzy! Honestly, if the bike is always sitting pretty, that means you’re not riding it… hard enough that is…
September 23rd, 2009 @4:52 pm
Scozzy + 1,
Jeez man what’s your total score??!
Newcastle:
First - technically, you’re wrong. The first bicycles were not fixed geared because they did not have gears. The first bicycles were actually called “walking machines” and did not have pedals. They were basically two wheels attached together by a wooden frame. You basically sat on it and pushed yourself along with your feet. The first bicycles with pedals were still not fixed geared because they did not have gears, the pedals were built directly onto the front axle. Bicycles went through many many iterations before they became geared, fixed or not. I know what you were trying to go for, but If you’re going to start referencing historic information, you might as well get it right.
Second - Even early bikes had some kind of braking mechanism aside from just force through your legs. A lot of early bikes had spoon breaks which didn’t stop very well, but it was an extra force in addition to your legs. Safety was a concern back then too, probably more so considering they didn’t have the types of medical advances we have today.
Third - you’re not riding brakeless for ‘nostalgic’ reasons so lets not lie to ourselves ok? The modern fad of commuting without breaks comes from the popularity of riding track bikes. When you’re on the track yes it makes sense to ride without brakes, but the road isn’t the track. Also, if you talk to people who race, because I know you don’t, they will tell you that even on the track you don’t stop with your legs and you certainly don’t skid. You use your legs to do minor adjustments to speed up and slow down when taking turns and navigating through a pack, but you’re never forcing your legs stiff to stop. It tears up your knees (which no racer would ever want) and stiffens your muscles. If you actually end up riding your trendy fixed gear bike on the road and use your legs to stop over time you’ll feel what I’m talking about (especially if you live in a hilly city).
Seriously, you’re on the internet. Before you start typing it would probably do you some good to educate yourself on what you’re talking about so you don’t continue to make yourself look stupid.

newcastle, did you really say “unsmart?”

Not crazy about the white fork but overall pretty smooth and satisfying. That’s what she said.
October 31st, 2009 @1:40 am
A bit to much white but to each their own. Looks good overall.
December 10th, 2009 @8:06 am

December 24th, 2009 @2:25 am

December 26th, 2009 @2:08 pm
you are all petty fools
December 27th, 2009 @11:57 am
Keep the Brake and spell it correctly. Bar tape is plastic and Chrome is real. I like Chrome. Wear gloves if you need a grip. Leather for real. Nice bike for sure. Thanks Eduard with brakes/no plastic tape.
