My old Peugeot Course PS 22 was lugged around from country to country and sat in my garage most of the time. Might have been used only a few times in the last 23 years. But now I use it every day! I added some mini brake levers, a flip flop hub, a new saddle. I reused the biopace front sprocket and pedals. Here is the before and after.

Biopace…interesting concept on fixed/ss. Sheldon Brown did it and liked it. I’ve heard mixed feelings on it. I guess if you have just enough chain slack..

I used the biopace that was already on the bike as a cost-saving measure. Supposedly, it minimizes the “bouncy” motion that happens when you have high cadence on the down hills but it’s my first fixie, so I have nothing to compare it to. The only downfall is that the chain is not consistent in the tension. The bike itself is so nice to ride. I have been trying to figure out what year it is, but haven’t been able to yet. I’ve had it since the late 80s. if anyone knows, please let me know. This bike is a Canadian Peugeot.

At my local fixed gear shop they told me a regular chainring wouldn’t fit a crank that has a biopace chainring on it. My 80′s shimano chainring fitted fine on a friends bike with biopace. Maybe that works for you too, cheap solution for chaintension problems…
