uh uh! Flanged head tube means not a Leader-right? Ya, I know it says knock-off,just showing I’m paying attention. Good build for what it is,bulls look great. That crank do look familiar.

nice outdoor shot. where was it taken?

@sloman, Thanks! I love the bars to. I’m new to fixed gear and would rather experiment with lower end parts. I’m hoping to make my next build a bit higher end.
@wbizbot, It was taken in my backyard in British Coumbia, Canada.

I see you changed the bars up
October 26th, 2011 @12:17 pm
@anthony cobb, Yes, I changed the bars. These are much more comfortable, functional and in my opinion, better looking. I also raised and leveled the saddle (it has gone up even more since this picture). I am new to this type of riding, so I am still tweaking my bike to get the perfect fit. I did state it was a repost and posted a link to the old post to avoid getting grief from anyone. I apologize if the minor changes do not warrant a repost.

Liking your set up… especially the bullhorns

Thanks man. Its my favorite part of the bike

Damn! I bet there’s bears out there. 46-16 is a great ratio for outrunning bears.

Blendo,to continue my pointless rant from Bianchi, this ride is so much more tasteful and restrained. It makes the most of what it is,not vis-versa. Hope ya’all get my point.

It means a lot to hear you say that about my bike sloman. I was expecting a lot of hate for it being a cheap frame with low end components. I definitely tried to make the most of what I have. Having said that, it doesn’t even hold a light to some of the amazing handmade frames and complete NJS builds I have seen on this website and others. It is what it is. I tried to build something I would enjoy riding. Now that I have built something I am happy with, I would feel okay spending a lot more money on my next build as I no longer doubt my ability to choose parts and set up a fixed gear bicycle. As far as the Bianchi goes, it seems a bit counterintuitive to take a great track frame (especially a concept) and put risers and other questionable parts. Given the same frame I would have executed the build differently, but I guess it’s just a part of fixed gear culture I’ll never understand.

I’d ride it!
Would love to see it with a white saddle and dare I say white bar tape?
October 27th, 2011 @10:18 pm
@anthony cobb, Thanks. I thought about a white saddle and bar tape, but restrained myself as I plan to upgrade to some black Julian V2′s. Don’t know if I’ll actually do it because then it would just be another blacked out stealth bike.

YES! YES! YES!

@ng, funny that you mention that, a grizzly bear was spotted the other day not far from where this picture was taken. Using my bicycle computer I have calculated that a 17t cog on the back would help me spin more efficently. My average speed right now is 25km/h. To be spinning 90rpm I need to have an average speed of 30km/h. Less gear inches should help me achieve an average speed of 30km/h and a 17t cog give me more skid patches.

that bike look very cheap and ugly, can’t believe people actually waste their time no it, this is my opinion
November 6th, 2011 @4:57 pm
@roadbiker25, Thanks for the feedback! Because I posted this on a website to gather feedback, I appreciate it! I to believe that people are entitled to their opinions, but I would like it if you could elaborate on why you think it is “very ugly”. As a matter of fact, it was very cheap. You have a good eye for noticing. Nothing like saving a bit of money for my next build.

let’s hear it for the money savers. Very appropo in the spirit and history of the original messengers who rode cheap to make a buck. Maybe there should be a cost in the specs(though we would all fudge a bit). Example-my latest, project, came in under $2oo dollars!! Oh ya,I already had the wheelset and saddle and pedals. No excuse for ugly or unsafe(yours is neither Blendo-super job),but mega buck rides, while great to see,are not in keeping with fixed spirit. Now I shall continue my quest for a Pista under a grand LOL.

@sloman – couldn’t agree more! But it’s not just about saving money. There’s nothing like the satisfaction that you get from rebuilding a working bike from available parts and a frame that would otherwise have ended up at the dump or as scrap metal! It’s a real win-win. You save money and help the environment.
@blendo – like your bike, but pardon my ignorance. What is that thing ot the top tube? It looks like a a gas-cap!
November 7th, 2011 @9:59 am
@Steve P, The thing on the top tube is a bicycle computer. As far as looks go, it’s not pretty, but it’s helped me choose a good ratio as well as proved me with a few useful features such as a clock (I don’t wear a watch). I agree with your comment about building up a bike from scrap. A good conversion with what I can find will be my next project.
November 7th, 2011 @11:57 am
@blendo – sorry, I should have known that’s what it is. I don’t use one, so I never thought of that. I’ve just finished a rebuilding an old (1973) scrap bike and will post it as soon as I get some good pictures.

no thanks.

@emilyjoy666, Ohhh relax, I was only giving you a hard time. I didn’t actually mind your bicycle.
