Put this together a couple of weeks ago after my Felt fixie got stolen.
Valencia frameset from Mission Bicycle in San Fran.
Origin 8: Headset, handlebars, seatpost, seat, pedals.
Pake crankset 46t
Velosolo cog 16t
DP18 rims
Soma hubs
Kind of a budget ride but is probably the quickest bike I’ve ever ridden.

wow, not that’s a “fixie”. You went through a lot of effort to make a lot of decent components look like crap (a lot of crap). Luftmensh would love this. He likes when all the parts are the same color.
What happened to the Blue top tube pad and orange spoke cards?
December 9th, 2009 @9:22 pm
Wow that’s a lot of hate. I mean it’s a bit much but, to call it crap is a little harsh. I started out in BMX so my my tolerance for matching color ways is high, but relax dude.

i think that this is a cool bike, well done! gave ‘er an 8.

This build appears to have tremendous inspiration from Gabriel Vereczkei, and his spray painted works of art, aka….junk that continue to litter this site. Hey Dominic any chance you live in Media, PA??
December 10th, 2009 @1:28 pm
that’s a bit harsh.
December 10th, 2009 @2:47 pm
I agree. That’s way harsh. I’ve seen A LOT of bikes with a simple 2 color scheme. Nothing wrong with it and not even boring if it’s done well.
December 10th, 2009 @11:22 pm
Thanks for the kind words guys. As for the haters, what’s wrong with having a little color? Or a lot of color? I mean as long as its fast right? I personally grow tired of all the black/white/brown/silver. Yuck, that’s a powdercoat buddy, and as for the Gabriel influence, aren’t all of his bikes conversions? I’d like to see your bike. Yours too Kumai.
December 11th, 2009 @1:29 am
ok, maybe a bit too harsh. (but not “way harsh”) Sorry Dom.
I have no problem mixing these two colors, and I have no problem with two color schemes.
But these colors were NOT meant for a two color schemes and the effort to get blue tires, blue toe clips, orange pedals, etc, etc, THEN custom build a wheelset with blue rims, orange spokes and blue hubs.
I just think that all the effort was wasted when this bike could have looked a lot better with out trying so hard. I think the thing is that this just was not done right then.

Oh, and on the part about seeing A LOT of bikes with a simple 2 color scheme? like what? what do you consider a simple 2 color scheme?
lets take a new bike on here, is “Malvern Star Rebuild” a 2 color scheme? cause it has silver alloy parts, black hubs, etc.
Also, there is a difference between a bike that is orange and blue and a bike of any color that uses either white or black as it’s second color.
Show me “A LOT” of bikes that have two colors (neither or which is black or white …or silver) and only those two colors. (and every little part on the bike is either one color or the other) cause I doubt it.

I had to read that twice @ first it seemed like semi mental raving. Then it made sense.
December 11th, 2009 @3:18 am
You’re still a hater
December 11th, 2009 @12:36 pm
@ Kumai. I consider a 2 color scheme to be any bike where 2 colors are dominant. Seems pretty common. I guess because too many different colors and shit starts looking disorganized and random. This bike is obviously an extreme example since almost EVERYTHING is one or the other.
December 11th, 2009 @7:51 pm
@ng .. And that makes ALL the difference.
Almost every bike is a 2 color scheme in that sense. This bike is far from that.
It’s that very fact that every single part is one color or the other that ruins this bike.

Kumai–fuck you. If you’re such a righteous Puritan then show me your “flawless” ride. Let me guess—Bianchi Pista? Secondly, I DO like this bike because it’s drenched in color and it isn’t yet another boring black out stealth bike. It’s budgeted and yet, color aside, it looks quick as hell.
December 12th, 2009 @3:53 am
fuck you too Luft. you always had bad taste and stupid comments. A bianchi pista is just the type of poser bike YOU would ride (or should I say have sitting in your living room untouched since the day your mom got it for you).
True, my bike is nothing special.. Panasonic with all NJS.. tons of them here in Japan. But at least I’ve been ridding since before it became a fad and a bunch of tools like you jumped on the bandwagon for fashions sake.
December 12th, 2009 @1:47 pm
lol it seems my bike is quite divisive. initially my bike wasn’t going to be completely colored but the more i researched components it seemed like it wouldn’t be that hard to do. only part that gave me trouble was the stem. colored stems are hard to find. but i’m pretty pleased with the result. some people will love it. some people will hate it. oh well. i bought most of the components from bell’s bike shop online. they have a great selection of colored parts. they also built my wheels. highly recommended.

Damn guys! Really?!! It’s getting this heated over opinions on bikes? It’s personal expression. With the infinite number of possibilities as far as color combinations, component choices etc. and how one chooses to combine these elements, it’s kind of a functional art form. There’s no right or wrong.
Can we get a bit more fuckin’ unity here people? This fighting within the tribe won’t stand. You have angered the Gods.
December 12th, 2009 @2:26 pm
@ ng & Dom.. you guys are right. Sorry Dom, “crap” may have been a bit strong.
@ Luft you are still a tool and I’ve thought so in every other one of your other post, not just because of this.
Squashed…

Nice! You have caused quite a stir! Kumai you are a hater! I think you are just jealous! BRONCO BIKE FTW!!! GJ Domp!

Good color choice since it will be easy to identify if some fool steals it. Since his other bike was stolen this makes sense. If all bikes looked the same we would not have this gallery for winter diversion. When spring hits we will all be out riding more than now with the snow and salt. I only ride my little Raleigh Twenty folder conversion fixed in the winter. It is low to the ground in case I need a foot down for balance when cornering especially. Thanks and it looks like your bike (Precious ?) is out in the snow also. good work!

Kumai–whatevs. I’ve been riding fixed for four years and didn’t even know it was trendy at the time. I was just sick of 21 speeds and bmxs and figured I’d try a single speed cruiser. I can’t afford a pista and wouldn’t buy one if I could. They seem a waste. But you wouldn’t know anything about riding NJS on the street, would you?
Hate aside, can’t we all just get along? I guess I can try to be a little more forgiving…

Sensitive subjects. Sex , Religion, and Bikes. Can we agree on a BEER ? Thanks (Rolling Rock ? )
February 26th, 2010 @10:04 pm
BEER! COLD! GOOD!
February 27th, 2010 @6:27 am
Spread the love, ng! Where the booze at?!

The colors are reminding me of a sports team…? While its not my piece of cake, I find the build itself to be quite good. The bike has a nice look. It would work better for me if I was color blind but still it looks like a nice ride.
February 27th, 2010 @2:22 pm
Rolling rock is pretty good but I’ve been on blue moon for a while. it’s a good wheat beer made by Coors. And the colors are like a neon version of University of Florida’s Gators.

A beer suggestion…There are a lot of great Belgian beers that are actually “live” beers. Meaning just before the bottle is capped or corked a small amount of yeast is added. The yeast continues to live at the bottom of the bottle and you get a “bottle conditioned” brew which means the carbonation is natural and not injected and the beer is alive. Gotta love those Trappist Monks! One fine example…Check out “Gulden Draak” Ale. 10.5% and delicious. Cheers.

Top Choices for Beer. Glad to hear ! Guiness of course is good , almost a meal. The Belgian Bier is good and pricey. Around Chicago Goose Island is good. Sam Adams is too strong for me lately. Rolling Rock is only fair but relates to bikes on the roll. Thanks for the feedback.
February 27th, 2010 @10:48 pm
Rolling rock is what heineken would taste like if it wasn’t made with pee. Essentially alcohol water.

I think there should be a fixedbeer.net. Booze and bikes.
