Wes, you’re an animal with that ratio.

curious whats going on with the brake levers….is one just for symmetry or do they both work the front brake? and yah thats a beefy gear ratio!

Keep yor knuts tight.

What is it? 49:15, 51:16? It’s a bit front-heavy with the bars and levers.

Nice build, I love those wheels. How does the rear wheel behave with so few spokes in it?

Thanks Everyone
woops, wrong pic #3
illdthedj: the two brake levers are for symmetry. i think just one looks off.
As Wicked: 53/16
Peter: The rear wheel is pretty solid. its the front wheel that flexes a bit when you torque uphills. I’m guessing its because of the low spoke count plus them being bladed spokes.

that seat post somehow looks bigger than the seat tube it messing with my head but i likes it
April 6th, 2011 @12:31 pm
your front wheel is dangerous, rebuild that mofo. Also, why did you buy such a small frame size, and then raise your seat post so high? the small frame looks a bit silly.
April 6th, 2011 @2:04 pm
@Wes thanks for the extra info. I just love bladed spokes.
@mmsiphone You’re saying that a vintage Campagnolo Vento / bladed spokes is dangerous? Well at least Campagnolo didn’t think so and I’ve heard that they know a thing or two about high performance bike parts.
Worst thing that can happen is a spoke that snaps and it taking a set. It’s not like it will explode on one.
April 6th, 2011 @2:08 pm
mmsiphone, I’ve seen your bike. you shouldn’t be calling anyone’s bike silly looking.
April 6th, 2011 @2:13 pm
@mmsiphone Oh and for track bikes it is pretty common to take a pretty small frame. It’s stiffer and has a nice short wheelbase for quicker maneuvering. It looks silly because most of us have been getting used to looking at road bikes or conversions.
See Nelson Vails here on his pretty 3Rensho and see how high his seat is:

Just sayin’

I have also heard of wobbly Ventos. Not breaking, just side to side like you say.Probably more a radial lacing thing than low count.Check tensions are high enough and nipples are Loctited-Blue only!Never ever use red.enjoy

You’re a beast Wes. Loose the pointless brakelever, it will give it the fixed gear look. Is that a titanium brooks?
April 7th, 2011 @7:21 pm
Nick O – not a Ti Brooks. i remember reading something about a limited edition brooks for french bikes which had writing on the seat. My seat seems to be one of those.

Sick build, Wes. High quality stuff without being predictable. Gear – awe-inspiring. Few nit-pick things: silver stem, black rear tire. I assume it’s quite flat where you ride?
January 23rd, 2012 @4:50 pm
Sold. No more fixed life for me.
