Motobécane Mirage MCMLXXV

1975 Moto Mirage 52cm C-C. Original electric blue and hand pinstriping. I kept and polished all the steel parts I could. Sold the Weinmann centerpulls and assoc clamps and hangers, the dia-compe dual brake levers, the 52 tooth ring (kept the 40). Added Weinmann 500 sidepulls. Found a sweet Ideale Type 3 seatpost clamp amd a single 46T Nervar Chainring from France on ebay, and a chromoly 5mm seatpost clamp in England. The front hub is a ’87 Maillard sealed laced to a 27″ Super Champion alloy rim. The rear wheel is a Japanese replacement with a cassette. I slid aluminum spacers on to the splines and threaded a 17T track sprocket on top. Chain alignment is dead nuts. Araya alloy rear rim. The only other Japanese part on her is the 90mm reach SR stem. I removed the original Pivo 65mm reach stem and steel randonneur bars, and clamped in the aluminum Belleri France upright bars 25.4mm clamp. Cane Creek bar end brake levers and Specialized Roubaix wrap…(mmm comfy). Original french threaded headset, added a 1″ dia spacer to compensate for removing the brake cable hanger. Screwed on a pair of large Lapize toe clips on to the OEM Union rattraps with Avenir straps. 27″ Avenir blackwalls 90 PSI. Nashbar saddle (FiZik copy with CrN/Ti alloy rails. I have access to a calibrated linear scale at work (fish scale) I picked her up under the seat rails…22.5 lbs with steel frame and crank!
