Dark red grips would be cool, I agree. The tires actually match those grips really well when they're new, though regular use darkens them up a bit. Not too sure how many different hues of red I've got to choose from, either. When shopping for keirin-style track grips, the choices I came across were simply "black" or "red" or other basic colors..not exactly a color wheel of choices. I did, however, snag a nice silver chain yesterday. I'll post a link to a new pic or just do another update altogether when I get that set up...I'll need a chain-breaker first. Whoever decided that 114 links was an appropriate default length for single-speed chains should be fired for wasting resources.

Lovely looking ride. I'm liking the lugged steel frame with the tight rear triangle and crowned fork. Gotta agree with some previous posters about the color of the grips though. Dark red, either matching the tires or in between the chain/tire colors imo.

this is obviously a great build, so i am going to be nit picky :)

loving the mostly white/silver with touches of red going on. however the chain and tires are a more burgundy, dark red, whereas the track grips are this bright red which isn't as visually cohesive as it could be....i would have tried to find a more maroon track grip.

like i said, being nit picky. also not a fan of the saddle...something about the shape of it seems goofy.

and now im going to comment on there not being a brake lol...i know you said to not comment on it, but still. i dont know what your cog is teeth wise, but running a 52 front and no brakes doesn't seem very smart. in an emergency skid stopping is not going to be fast/quick enough to adequately stop in time.

brakes on fixed gear bikes to me are not for everyday use, they are for those emergencies you need to stop much quicker than you could with skidding. just my 2 cents. i think more fixed gear riders using brakes means less injured riders and overall a global shift in fixed gear rider's perspective on safety. there just seems to be this mentality like "if its fixed dont brake it", like you arn't "hip" or cool if you have brakes. i would like to see this mentality change, because if you ask me there is also a correlation between perspective on safety and overall consideration of road laws. im grasping for straws now but the whole automobile driver VS. bicyclist confrontation seems to stem from people from both parties not adhering to road laws, and the more safe/law-considerate cyclists out there the better for the general good of all cyclists.

haha really reaching there. sorry morning coffee kicking in!!!!!

anywho nice build tho

From the... "fully aware of the potential hazards at hand and this is how I choose to ride my track bike" I'm guessing he's on the road w this....which is why I said it's gonna be tough to stop quickly w a ratio like this. (no cliche brake comment inserted) Do your thing....hope you wear a lid though.
