Definitely some better quality photos for you this time.
I’ve added track pedals, steel cages, a new seat post, some track grips, and bumped the chainring up from a 48 to a 52. The rear wheel clearance is super tight but doesn’t touch, just the way I like it.
Please don’t rate/comment negatively due to the lack of a front brake–I’m fully aware of the potential hazards at hand, and this is how I choose to ride my track bike.

very nice, great colors,if it were mine I would have hunted for a red/black seat to top it off with the tyres, clean and tidy, well done

glad you didnt take the stickers off the wheels, even tho it would make it cleaner looking I think contrast works well with stickers on alot of the time

Sweet frame! like it a lot. I’d do a silver chain though and black grips…for keeping with the classic look. 52t chainring to what?…18 maybe?…. I hope you’re psychic cuz that’s gonna be tough to bring to a quick stop.

Get a saddle with more flair and call this build complete. Good work Drew.

I think this is just stunning. Absolutely lovely.

I too would love to know what you are running with a 52? I know Phil makes cogs up to 22t. EAI stops at 18. But I guess it is a track bike and on a track you aren’t really worried about ability to skid or breaking distance.

Very nice looking track Bike, it reminds me of the Bob Jackson on this site. a 10
July 28th, 2010 @8:18 pm
It’s a track bike dude who needs a brake?
July 28th, 2010 @9:53 pm
The saddle match to the black straps, those grips are just the right blend to the red tires.. not matchy matchy. Try a silver chain but nice as is!
July 28th, 2010 @10:24 pm
agreed, silver chain’s show you mean business.
July 29th, 2010 @2:31 am
agree on the silver chain.i like everything else. the red track grips look good with the red tires. just black and white would be boring.
last winter i ran a 52/16 on my bike. it was horrible. i ride brakeless too. its impossible to do a quick stop. i had the feeling my knees would have popped out if i did it.
i think its totaly to ride brakeless and safe with something like 42/16 gearing but for everything higher i would recommend a brake. the problem is that most real track bikes are not drilled to install a brake.

Beautiful bike only spoiled by the chain. I think plain silver will make the other red elements stronger and make it look like a serious ride.
July 29th, 2010 @5:52 am
Thanks, everyone!
The gearing is currently 52/18, and I agree that a silver chain will tie the knot on this build.

I’m not trying to be the nay sayer of the bunch. But I don’t see how you can ride this bike to it’s full potential on the streets, with this gear ratio and no brake. Unless you are some kind of superman, technically advanced, ill rider with extensive San Fran riding experience your gonna smash into a car at a intersection sooner or later. You should at least have the brake option, you don’t have to use it however, it can be your emergency air brake when stopping within in 15 feet of an object ain’t gonna work with a super power skid. Nice build though, and good luck out there. Cheers!

ah,G-rasshopper see light. No brakey mean breaky soon. Our work here is done.
July 29th, 2010 @10:10 pm
I thought he was riding it on a track and thus said he didn’t want any shit for no brake? If he’s rid in it on the street with no brake and the implied gear ratio, he’s freaking nuts. But it is his bike… And the chain is totally ewww on abide that is otherwise the bee’s knees

As stated in the description, this bike is set up for track use–not a daily commuter.
July 30th, 2010 @7:19 am
yes mineons,repeat after me-track no brake,street brake.okey dokey.

From the… “fully aware of the potential hazards at hand and this is how I choose to ride my track bike” I’m guessing he’s on the road w this….which is why I said it’s gonna be tough to stop quickly w a ratio like this. (no cliche brake comment inserted) Do your thing….hope you wear a lid though.

this is obviously a great build, so i am going to be nit picky
loving the mostly white/silver with touches of red going on. however the chain and tires are a more burgundy, dark red, whereas the track grips are this bright red which isn’t as visually cohesive as it could be….i would have tried to find a more maroon track grip.
like i said, being nit picky. also not a fan of the saddle…something about the shape of it seems goofy.
and now im going to comment on there not being a brake lol…i know you said to not comment on it, but still. i dont know what your cog is teeth wise, but running a 52 front and no brakes doesn’t seem very smart. in an emergency skid stopping is not going to be fast/quick enough to adequately stop in time.
brakes on fixed gear bikes to me are not for everyday use, they are for those emergencies you need to stop much quicker than you could with skidding. just my 2 cents. i think more fixed gear riders using brakes means less injured riders and overall a global shift in fixed gear rider’s perspective on safety. there just seems to be this mentality like “if its fixed dont brake it”, like you arn’t “hip” or cool if you have brakes. i would like to see this mentality change, because if you ask me there is also a correlation between perspective on safety and overall consideration of road laws. im grasping for straws now but the whole automobile driver VS. bicyclist confrontation seems to stem from people from both parties not adhering to road laws, and the more safe/law-considerate cyclists out there the better for the general good of all cyclists.
haha really reaching there. sorry morning coffee kicking in!!!!!
anywho nice build tho

I saw a girl the other day….her t-shirt said “if it’s fixed don’t brake it”. She finished her burrito, got up from her table and got on her fixie which had a brake. I was like riiiiiight…
July 30th, 2010 @10:39 am
Wow. Her t-shirt should have said “irony.”

Can anyone tell me why my comments are always “under moderation” for days at a time? It’s frustrating not being able to communicate on here.

Ill he said he only runs it on a track, he would look like an idiot if he ran with a brake. And not too much emergency skidding going on. Itsabeautiful bike Drew. Congrats

Lovely looking ride. I’m liking the lugged steel frame with the tight rear triangle and crowned fork. Gotta agree with some previous posters about the color of the grips though. Dark red, either matching the tires or in between the chain/tire colors imo.
August 5th, 2010 @6:20 pm
Dark red grips would be cool, I agree. The tires actually match those grips really well when they’re new, though regular use darkens them up a bit. Not too sure how many different hues of red I’ve got to choose from, either. When shopping for keirin-style track grips, the choices I came across were simply “black” or “red” or other basic colors..not exactly a color wheel of choices. I did, however, snag a nice silver chain yesterday. I’ll post a link to a new pic or just do another update altogether when I get that set up…I’ll need a chain-breaker first. Whoever decided that 114 links was an appropriate default length for single-speed chains should be fired for wasting resources.

Nice build, one of the cleanest on here. Later.
