This bike is so disproportionate and rather indicative of one thing, the frame is too small for the rider as manifested by the height of the seat post and stem…plus those bullhorns are just macabre!
I am 5’7″ with long legs and just switched from risers so the stem is a bit high for now. The frame is 54.5 and feels great. I like to stretch out my legs on rides! This bike is also my workout. I ride 10+ miles a day Rain or Shine all over Portland. So 48-19 is a great ratio for me. I will maybe switch to 48-18 but loose about 15 skid patches. My knees will thank me later. The bullhorns have been trimed down 1.5″ on each side!! To each his own!
Your bike has really impressed me. It can go from a this to a utilitarian commuting machine with the swap of a few parts. I want this exact bike as a rainy day/winter beater. Only thing I would do is drop the stem a bit, and give those bars a downward angle, but thats just my preference. I usually dislike conversions, but this bike makes me want to build one up as a beater.
Update 4 was the one I was referring to when I said “utilitarian commuting machine”. When it’s got fenders it looks like it’s ready for a hardcore commute on a rainy day. When it’s setup like this, it looks like it’s ready to mash through traffic. I agree, it needs a cross lever.

nice conversion, clean and simple.that red patch is still very distracting, maybe a red brake cable would play to balance.

Still nice Anthony! Would add some color and change the lever set-up though. What gearing do you run currently? Looks diehard…

Why do you have two brake levers when you only have one caliper? Balance maybe?
March 1st, 2011 @3:48 pm
Because 1 would just look silly.
Will upgrade to a single cross lever one day

I like it. Nice and simple. I understand the two brake lever thing but I think you should lose one. One brake gives it that fixie look.
