I try not to be negative but that cable does look crazy. Is that a color matched kickstand, is that a kickstand?

Yea that is a kickstand, I didn’t think the guys at powder coat would hit with powder. At first i was going to hack it off but this is my ride to school and campus can be a little rough. The brake line is kind of funky, this is my first bike and brought it in to to make sure the cog was lined up right and when I got it back the guy ran the brakes too.

Sadly I kind of agree with newcastle. If you’ve got the braze-ons for the rear break on the top tube you should just go ahead and use them. It looks a lot more clean when they go through the braze-ons.

I also built a fixed gear continental and after a couple of rides realized the one-piece cranks are not strong enough for fixed gear. You should get a truvativ bottom bracket adapter and a 3-piece crank. I have another schwinn that is a single speed freewheel and the one-piece crank works fine there because it has breaks.

A few problems with this bike. 1. Red and green don’t go unless it’s a Christmas themed bike and you’re riding to the strip mall for your shift as Santa. 2. Get bars that don’t look gay and run a bar mount front brake. 3. Get a new crank, period. 4. Lose the kickstand. Bike racks are meant to be leaned upon. And if there isn’t a rack, there are always street signs. 5. Get pedals that won’t grind your legs off like cheese graters. 6. Lose the rear brake. If you didn’t want braze-ons you should have ground them off before painting. And as long as you use your legs to slow down you’ll only need a front brake. A rear brake on a fixed gear is redundant and for pussies.
Cheers.

i have to agree with most comments, however, luftmensh, red and green are actually complimentary colors. but this is what its about right, your own style and personality, he built this bike up for himself and enjoys it, thats what it is about

Brake cable fly fishing set up.

tie wrap that rear brake cable if its s/s or lose the rear brake if its fixed.rear brake on fixie is conterproductive and dangerous.keep the kickstand on that frame.it is a conversion that will be used, not a fake tracker.might as well keep it easy.enjoy

This thing has real potential and I agree in part. New crank? Yes, its so worth it. Curious choice in peddles. The whole cockpit is kind of off. Do the handlebars work for you? Re-tape the bar with black –it will dress the whole thing up considerably. The red is just not working. The brake levers themselves seem out of place on this set-up. I would look at other bikes for handlebar-idea and perhaps re-do the bars altogether… but maybe its okay for you. The cables? Obviously their is an art to placing them right. You’ll get there. The kickstand? yeah, leave it and use it. Just a few things really. I could imagine a more retro-saddle and just one, good, quality front brake –but thats me. Great 60s color and it looks like a good spray job. Nice…. Schwinn pride, in the house.

This looks like a S T R E T C H compared to the short Track bikes. I like it and also the colors. It is nice to turn a tight circle and not hit the front wheel with your foot. Change the crank to a nice looking 3 piece with the nice polish they usually have. Thanks

Just noticed the funky Bear Trap pedals, sort of neat with the one piece crank after all. Makes a statement for your bike too. Screw the others this is me. ! I can appreciate that…..
