Note 2: I use this as a training bike for fitness and leg strength (I don’t do tricks/skids or coffee runs)
Note 3: Please suggest a set of decent wheels (aero if possible, with medium spoke counts) around the $500 mark.
Let me know what you guys think, and please be kind. Its my first bike.

I like the purpose stated in note #2. Though it would fit me, on such a small frame the overall look is sort of cluttered. The wheelset you have now looks good, but I like my Mavic Ksyrium Elites. They don’t have those “bumps” between the spokes, and the stickers come off easily for de-cluttering

Very nice training bike.

Appreciate the comments guys.
@ddave: The Ksyrium Elites are only for geared bikes am I right? If they made them for single speed, I’d definitely consider them!

brAllez, then see Green Sunday Fix. At least this is a good training/race bike and hopefully gets used as such.

note 3: i bought reynolds sdvc66 track carbon wheels on ebay for 450. this one seller, rockymountaincyclery, is selling off a bunch right now. you have to watch allot of auctions, ive seen them go for between 400ish to 1000+ (they are msrp 1300 or something). super nice, 66 deep carbon wheels.
this is a nice training bike, of course teenage fixie kids arn’t going to like this bike. id personally ride the hell out of this bike.
although i will say i have a build with bullhorns and barend brake levers…and it feels like im laying down on the bike, and when i want to ride upright i cant brake without having to lean forward and reaching for the barends…just a possible suggestion: (just throwing it out there, its what im doing on one of my builds) you can run a cross lever on the flats/tops, just run the cabling from one barend into the cross then into the brake. so you have two levers (a barend and a cross lever) actuating one of the two brakes. you end up having 3 levers on your bars but i sort of like how it looks. or you could have 4 levers, two barends going into two cross levers. anywho yah nice bike.

Thanks guys, for all your comments.
Yep. Definitely not interested in the level of colour coordination I put into the bike, nor am I too hung up over fashion and “coolness” factor. More interested in quality parts to make the bike worthy to race/train.
@illdthedj : Thanks for your input mate. I am aware of the Reynolds SDVC66 wheelset and was considering it at one point. What turned me off it was:
1. Questioning the robustness of the brake scrim wall – with my constant braking (there are decent hills around me)
2. Stories of problems relating to tire blowouts and melting of inner wheel due to excessive heat caused from braking
I think I might settle for the 2011 Mavic Ellipses.
To your other point of bullhorns. I know exactly what you mean with the feeling of reaching too far forward to have constant access on the levers. But I feel like I have abit more leverage when climbing hills.
I think I’m considered to be more of a power rider, and I exert a fair bit of force/pressure on the bar ends (especially when climbing), so I think the bulls suit me for now.
Perhaps I might consider drops later down the track.
Next upgrade: Clip-on pedals (probably Look Keo)
Cheers
