I’m new to the fixed gear scene and definitely not a gearhead by anymeans. Still I love the look of bikes that stand out, and this is mine.

You’re kidding, right?
April 23rd, 2009 @2:07 pm
Why would you do this to a track bike??!
April 24th, 2009 @2:05 pm
simply brilliant…
April 27th, 2009 @3:26 pm
No, seriously. You took a bike meant to race on a velodrome and decked it out like it was a touring bike or something. That’s like putting 20 inch rims on an SUV, it defeats the purpose that the vehicle was built for.
April 28th, 2009 @10:58 am
retarded
April 29th, 2009 @6:55 pm
If you think I’m retarded for being logical then it shows that you’re an idiot, and if this is your bike then this picture just backs me up.
April 30th, 2009 @9:57 pm
CS, I think he thinks the bike is retarded not your comment. I’m all for having everything you need for any given ride, but…where is the trailer? Where does the luggage go?
May 2nd, 2009 @7:23 am
Ah, yeah that makes sense.
Yeah, the thing is I love bikes that you can load stuff on. I think the setup on the bike is pretty awesome, its just on the wrong type of frame. Put all of that stuff on a touring bike. It doesn’t make sense on a track bike at all. And I could see this being a little more ok if it wasn’t on such a nice track bike. Do something like this on something older or not as nice.

CS, I couldn’t agree more. This bike is made to haul butt, not stuff.
May 7th, 2009 @1:03 am
FUCKING HELL MAN WTF!!
May 11th, 2009 @9:04 pm
it definitely stands out. your goal is achieved.
and for the rest of you, people like commuting on fixies. what’s the problem? it’s ugly, but it’s functional.
May 12th, 2009 @2:17 pm
It’s fashion before function. Wrong tool for the wrong job. It makes me feel dirty.
May 16th, 2009 @2:09 pm
yup it’s still retarded
May 17th, 2009 @10:21 pm
Heh heh heh.
May 30th, 2009 @9:10 am
Yea I get what your trying to do but this is the wrong type of bike to do it with. You would not go off road with a Time Trial Bike, just like you don’t load down a Fixie with touring stuff.
The cool thing about Fixed Gear bikes is they’re stripped down crotch rockets. Urban Fixed Gear Bikes were made popular by Bike Messengers, because they’re light, fast, responsive bikes made for quick point to point rides.
You have a KICK @SS fixed gear dream bike! I mean Brooks Saddle, Carbon front wheel, and a Sweet Track frame! Take off the cages, little bags, pump and TT bars. You may even want to put on “bullhorn” handlebars, since you like to ride with your hands forward. You will love the result, for both looks and performance. Throw all your stuff in a small bag or better yet CamelBack and ditch the water bottles.
I own 3 bikes; a Mt. Bike for off road, Road Bike for long rides, & my Fixie for around town. Each one has it’s purpose and specific use, and I love different things about each one.
Enough of my ramble, have fun and good luck!

Modifications to suite your personal taste and sense of adventure? Don’t you know your suppose to only pedal on a bike with the components that come with it?
Oh? Yeah… this site is all about experiments and trying out something different.
I cant explain why but I spend hours and hours on track frames where road, mountain or hybrid make me tired. I havent built up any of my 4 track frames for extended travel to this extent but I get it. One water bottle and one bag on the seatpost is as far as I’ll go with my Sputnik but please… give the guy a break. The yellow is the most offensive thing to me.

using you’re logic, not naming names, then taking a track bike onto the road doesn’t make sense. its meant for the track not the road, wrong frame for the wrong purpose.
people can do what they wish to their bikes in spite of elitism.

Not sure where “we” are going with this in terms of logic but does that mean Jimi Hendrix had no business playing new-fangled music on his Stratocaster guitar; originally designed for country western? He should have waited till someone designed a guitar for his new sound? General Rommels use of aerial artillery during the WW2 campaign in North Africa against tanks? Those guns were intended for aircraft but, when turned ground-ward, were even more effective against armored vehicles.
Can we call track frames used on the road as “ad-hoc road frames” to avoid a nomenclature argument? The best part of all this is enjoying just how effective a track frames is on the road and a “stripped down to the bone” look is the new religion.
I guess a long distance, laden with road accoutrement track frame is aesthetically offensive in many ways and thats the source of the comments… perhaps?
As many have stated: the guy can do as he pleases. Even if it offends many a connnoisseur.
August 3rd, 2009 @8:31 am
You have convinced me. And thank you for using the work “Accoutrement”. I try to use it at least once a day! Mission accomplished.

Then again, there is Goober from Mayberry trimming his fingernails with a bolt cutter.
September 7th, 2009 @7:25 am
That bike is gross…
It must be a joke right?
Would look saweeeet without all the “attachments”, lose the brakes + levers and reflector!!
it would look absolute SEX!
in this picture though I am experiencing major shrinkage….
PLEASE FIX IT AS I WON’T SLEEP TONIGHT!!!!
September 7th, 2009 @7:27 am
oh yeah… cut the steerer and flip the stem!
good luck!

This get up makes me sad. Seems kinda blasphemous.

Im not a fixed gearhead myself, but one of the things i do like about fixies is the sleek streamlined look. This is a beautiful looking stock bike, but not like this.
December 11th, 2009 @3:44 am

December 11th, 2009 @11:12 am

Dear God. Looks like he put this together in the dark. Buy a touring bike man, seriously. What a waste. Use this as the example of what not to do when building a fast fixed gear. Elitist, snob, call me whatever but this is just plain horrid.
