the pads were originally used for hefting onto ones shoulder for transport up to ones apt. or portaging in CX. They wouldn’t prevent ball bruising much. Better to get a frame that fits if they get in the way.or get married.
everything on this bike is the original from the 70s except the wheels, handlebars and seat. but it is so fun to ride around. and yes, the tt protector makes it nicer to lug up 3 flites of stairs to my house, and it helps to prevent scratches when i lock up against street signs and the like
In the real world,paint does get scratched however it was not meant to be scratched.I try to prevent it as much as possible.I think it looks better that way.

Well shoot, if it were original, I would leave it too. Nice build, I just built a cruiser and love it (fixed, of coarse).

paint was meant to be scratched. just look at the mona lisa. the only thing i would change is the saddle. to a nice classy one.
