Please get rid of the tube pad… Shit looks retarded!

One day when you move on from riding a fixed gear just because its trendy you’ll realize you actually have a nice road bike. Hopefully by then you’ll grow out of the ugly top tube.

Okay, okay! I will take off the top tube pad! I just had it on because someone gave it to me and to stop my lock from scratching up the paint. Second, its not fixed, its a single speed freewheel and I am running a back brake. So I am not doing the trendy thing, the single speed is a better, more easy to maintain set-up for flat city street riding.

I am going to listen and take the top tube pad off. It is a single speed bike not a fixed gear. It is faster, lighter and easier to maintain with city street riding as a single speed

I do like single speeds and I semi agree about freewheels being better in a flat city. I just think this frame is an awesome road frame and its almost a shame to see it as just a single.

Pretty sweet except for the top tube pad and rear brake with red cable housing. Red doesn’t match at all. And the only difference between fixed gear and single is the cog and lockring, and axle nuts if you wanna get technical. Unlike a single speed, braking is possible without a handbrake on a fixed gear, meaning one less component, making it “easier to maintain” for the overpriced bike shop you go to.

KEEP THE TOP TUBE AND BUY ONE MORE AND COVER motobecane. I like the color of the rear wheel better than the front. Try the Black Watch Scotch plaid it will go better with the white. Also but a fixed cog on the flip flop rear and try fixed and use only the front brake with scotch plaid housing if you can find it. Pack your bagpipes too. Thanks Ed with the wooden shoes no top tube yet.

nice bike condom! you should get a burberry one and then it will be way gayer!

This is why I don’t like mixmatched wheels, because the whole bike ends up being entirely out of balance.

This bike still looks like a Cross Dresser. I love the rear wheel colors though. Scotch Plaid is nice too but useless for this bike it seems. Still it is more interesting than a Black Out. Enjoy self expression.

bet that was a sweet geared bike.now it’s just another trendy, flash fix/single.simplicity has many levels.this is visually complex, out of balance.but at least you ride it.enjoy grasshopper.

i don’t you guys one minute you praising conversions. now you hating on this guy. ok the top tube pad is corny, but who cares if wanted to simplfy his road bike to a s/s he can always go back. i have no problem with the wheels w/o that pad and red brake cable i think this is cool combo.
April 7th, 2010 @3:31 pm
No problem Sup, I put a short glitter red cable on my School bus Yellor Raleigh with chrome original wheels and gumwalls with a black saddle. If I could find a top tube with Delft Blue colors and windmills I would mount it for fun just to gross out the choirboys and spandex crew at church.

It’s a matter of restraint and planning. It looks like Justin saw the gold wheel on craigslist, hopped onto ebay and bought a soma glitter saddle and origin 8 bar to match, and impulsively bought a random top tube pad and red brake housing just for the h3ll of it. If he removed the pad and brake housing it would be manageable, albeit still a little random. If you take your time it will show, and you’ll be spared a lot of money and headaches. It’s taken me a while to figure out what I wanted for my bike. I impulsively bought power grips and paid way too much and ended up only keeping the pedals. I bought a chainring for 3 times as much as i should have because i was impatient. I didn’t do my research and bought the wrong size cog. I was cheap and bought a chain from a sketchy buyer and it was one you couldn’t use a chain breaker on. And i was impatient and bought threadless valve stemmed inner tubes and had to buy an adaptor and ended up braking my bike pump. Take your time. Really.

haha you know what? i sort of dig this build, top tube pad included. however, said rider MUST be wearing a matching scottish kilt with tons of bling gold chains. and gold teeth as well.
i really dont like untapped bars, i think its done just for looks, and that looks is both played out and super impractical. however, this allows you the chance to somehow create cloth wrap to match the top tube!
