Been wanting a singlespeed forever and determined I could get a great new one for 450 fell in love with this frame at a garage sale and 600 later have a bike that’s not as good as a new one but so much more amazing. Found out I paid too much for the frame but oh well it’s a french bike from the 70′s with beautiful lugs, Reynolds 531 tubing and so much character. I love my Motobecane. I’m still waiting on a couple more parts then will post some awesome pics but damn I love this bike.

real bars(bulls or drops) and lowering the stem would help alot here. LOL at the cost comments, they are SO familiar. MY latest progect is one of the few I’ve built that came in under budget(only because I already had the wheelset). Nice job on this old Pug.

A good start. The saddle will be much more comfortable if you level it. Have a look at Sheldon Brown’s blurb on saddle angle. http://sheldonbrown.com/saddles.html#angle It would also be easier on your wrist if you adjust the angle of the brake lever so your wrist flows with your arm. you shouldn’t have to reach up so high to grab the lever. Some bullhorns would add many riding positions. If you are unable to add new bars, tape or grips should be added to these.

agreed, that frame is suuuper nice. I usually don’t like red chains, but it somehow works on this bike. Only things I would have to change are the flat bar (don’t like’em) and that saddle (I only like origin8 road saddles in black…the colored ones look cheap to me)

Yeah I bought the bars cause they were 8 dollars and looked cool. Sucked on the hills so now I have bullhorns and the angle made the seat look worse than it was but the comments made me double check it and I did a small adjustment. Just waiting on a black stem to complete it then I’ll take the real pics. It’s Motobecane not a Peugot so to me the frame is worth more than 50$ but I paid like 225 for a complete 10 speed with mismatched parts and bad wheels not bad but the only original things are the bottom bracket and headset. They are Swiss and French and to much of a headache to replace but still if the chainline works who needs a bb. I’m 6’5 and it’s a 63cm frame so the stem will always be a little tall.
