This was a bike I got off my great aunt and switched to fixed gear, because it was no good as a 5 speed. I have a 52 tooth silver biospace chainring so do you think that’s too high a ratio. It’s mostly flat around my town. Let me know what you think.

Why is it the vietnamese guy at the lbs told me to put a back brake on this bike? Thats why I haven’t fully disconfigured it yet.

If you were running it single speed a rear break would make a lot of sense,as a fixed-not so much. Maybe he thought you were running SS.Is that seat height comfy? Looks low. And the Biopace is prob a bit much for cruzin. How fit are you?

get a new saddle, raise said saddle, rewrap bars, lose back brake, the red chain ring isnt working for me, but other than that its a sweet looking ride!

Unaware of ratio until you disclose cog tooth amount.

I really dig your frame. There is nothing wrong with two brakes, especially if you are going to use big gears with no foot retention. Those biopace chainrings are ovular and I wonder if you might not have problems fixed. Ask Sheldon.

maybe he said run a back brake because you still have cable running there?

Sheldon has a section on fixed biopace, and used to run some fixed biopace setups.

Thanks for all the nice comments and the info on biopace. I’ll be sure to try it out. I took off the back brake lever today.
