I think this is a mid- 60′s Colnago? Really I found it on the side of the road. It was equipped with Campagnolo Super Record. It’s a work in progress to convert it to a single.

Must not be in the US if you found a colnago on the side of the road

convert back to gears. Colnago Super record? And you stripped it to make this? And probably stolen my guess, then left by side of road.bad vibes all over.

Agree on leaving it geared. Don’t like quill to threadless stem adapters either. Only time I’ve liked it was with a cinelli alter.

Currently doesn’t look that great, a long quill stem, drops, gears(like sloman said), two brakes, and a brooks saddle would do a lot. Take advantage of your find.

If you’re going to single it out get an eccentric hub for a cleaner look. Hows the size for you? Thats a small frame. I bet if you put your saddle up you could lean forward a bit more and get your feet under you better. Get some power strokes! And as a broken record sounds, get that stem off there. It isn’t working for you.

Agree with sloman and virgil, put the super record back on and get a quill stem.

Yep, gears and quill.

I agree with everybody else. Put it back like it was and ride it. Wish I could find a Super Record-equipped Colnago for free. What road was that, again?

vertical dropouts, end of story.
January 29th, 2012 @10:53 pm
I thinks this is not.

I’m Fine with it as a single speed. It’s always easy to put the gears back on. You can still respect the classic look with it as a single. I would go with a silver quill and drops. Silver seat post and a more classic saddle. That is a great find for sure.
January 30th, 2012 @10:34 am
yeah, the stem is bad, but that seat is atrocious…I’ve also discovered I don’t like white brakes

surely not mid 60s because of vertical dropouts. end of 80s to mid 90s

This does not appear to have vertical dropouts. As a result, there would be no need for an eno hub or that tensioner. The owner probably has it on to easily change between chainrings or they do not know what they are doing.

Virgil, I think its the later considering the build as a whole.
January 31st, 2012 @10:57 am
It was equipped with Campagnolo Super Record and you stripped all that off to make a singlespeed??? that frame and its dropouts are begging to go back to geared.

agree, stem, saddle, brake, tensioner are bad. level bars and saddle. chauncey, i really hope you don’t teach English anywhere.

BC,enough with the grammar critiqes, that is not the point of this little cyber gathering. As long as the writer is civil and has a point(even if they are wrong) I have no problem with their language skills. Velo skills trump. And for many here(sometimes the most interesting) English is not native tongue and kudos for them.

sloman, the reason I criticize is due to chauncey mentioning he has an English degree. Misspelling is like a mortal sin in the English department. I don’t care about his misspelling other than the way it annoys me. I also don’t care if non-native English speakers misuse spelling and grammar – how can anyone blame them? So once again, thank you for reiterating the Mission Statement. This is a bike forum? Never would have guessed. That said, it’s impossible for me to separate who I am from my knowledge and opinion of bikes, considering this is a community, and a community is comprised not of opinions but of a diverse gathering of individuals.

Bobc4t and Those Alike,
You’re a douche. Did I spell that right? Why do you insist on making issues where there are none. Sorry for the spelling errors. Shame on me for divulging my education focus to the “community.” Maybe I should review my post before I leave my replies. But, I think it speaks to my giving-a-shit-ness to you fucks, who care more about how people type their ideas and not the actual weight or content of the thought.
A Formal Fuck You,
