Cinelli-hope theres a track and/or a brake involved here.Too nice to mess up.enjoy
August 4th, 2010 @1:56 pm
Nice. I like the angle of the top tube on these frames.
August 4th, 2010 @3:19 pm
I love this frame. The crankset gives me a hard-on. And Toshi Straps, Gatorskins, and Deda Pistas? One of the best bikes on this site by far, sir.

It’s rad mms but old school wins my heart. I’m glad to see track parts on this versus risers and platform pedals but I don’t understand the deep vs, it’s definitely a fixed gear staple but there has to be a wide selection of genuine track wheels out there for such a serious setup (I like alliteration). Unless of course you’re commuting, in which case track wheels would be unnecessary. If that’s the case then I pose the question, is the track setup necessary?
August 4th, 2010 @7:53 pm
I’m kind of back and forth on this one :/
August 5th, 2010 @9:17 pm
attention: the cinelli mash is NOT supposed to be a track bike.
btw i know it makes sense but i hate those bottle cages, then again dehydration is not cool.
August 5th, 2010 @9:18 pm
how come noone ever does anything intersting w/ these frames it’s such a neutral palette.
August 7th, 2010 @6:13 am
Why spend the money on a Cinelli commuter?
August 7th, 2010 @9:08 pm
luft why not because it’s a cinelli it’s to good for the street? they actually did the tour of california on these.
August 8th, 2010 @1:27 pm
Man, I can’t imagine doing the tour of california fixed. I watched those videos when they came out and was like ‘??!’. There are some longer rides out here some of my friends have done fixed or single speed that are not nearly as long or grueling as the tour of california and I thought they were bonkers because of those!
I like the bike and I LOVE cinelli components and frames, but I think the back and forth is because of how freaking trendy they are right now. They’re in the same boat as bianchi and (to a less expensive extent) kilos for me; I’m not as into them because everyone, including people who know or care next to nothing about bikes, are buying them up right now solely because they’re in. It’s mostly a personal thing but I’m afraid of the quality of the frames degrading b/c the mass market buying them doesn’t care how well its built. Remember when all Mongoose bikes used to be good??? Fuck walmart btw.
August 8th, 2010 @2:15 pm
I don’t think you have to worry about Walmart Cinellis. And Bianchi has improved the quality of the Pistas-Vias-in spite of their popularity. Most things get popular by being good, then the hype .
August 8th, 2010 @2:28 pm
cinelli is doing a lot of trendy stuff right now the mash, rvca collab, the mystic rat, etc… but i don’t think it effects the quality because most of this stuff is being done in limited production runs. it is what it is fixed gear is hot right now but honestly i don’t see the trend going on much longer so i think in the near future you all will be free of hipsters and hypebeast i saw a kid w/ a unicycle yeasterday i think that’s the next trend
August 8th, 2010 @2:32 pm
you never know slo gt/dyno, mongoose, schwinn, etc…
August 8th, 2010 @2:57 pm
Yeah I don’t worry about walmart picking up cinelli or bianchi necessarily and I don’t think either of those companies would stoop that low, but look at stuff like the republic bike. Plus mongoose still makes decent quality bikes, you just have to go directly to their site for them and they’re no longer known for those bikes. Sup, you mention schwinn. Have you been to schwinn’s website lately?
http://www.rideschwinn.com/#/road-bikes
These are the people who made the freaking paramount!!! My fear is that good companies like bianchi and cinelli who are feeding the trend are going to be making lesser quality bikes (even in short runs), make a lot of money off of the mass production, and then start devoting more time and money to those cheaper models and pull a schwinn. I mean there was even a time way way way back in the day when huffy made a good quality bike and no the idea of that is laughable.
I dont’ know, it’s also just my paranoia talking. Mostly it’s just irritating seeing people buy awesome awesome bikes and then see them treat them like shit because its trendy.
August 8th, 2010 @3:11 pm
I like this build, but I’m a bit back and forth on it too.
Clean build overall, I like the use of the saddle bottle mount to keep the frame lines clean. I can see it being raced but not used on the streets. Looks fun to ride and hope you enjoy it

CS,I don’t think Schwinn “made the Paramount”,it was made for them by an Italian maker and they labeled it.Huffy did the same thing,do you think Raleigh-per se- “made the Techniums, the list goes on and on.Today Merciers,Motobecanes and others all come off the same robot welder. As I said before,it’s the QC and assembly that the “maker” is willing to put their rep on that makes the difference.Hopefully Bianchi and Cinelli(and Pinarello ect.)can maintain. But it is a hard world out there and as the old guard fades, the new order gets greedy.Never say never, hope for the best.cheers
August 8th, 2010 @4:58 pm
Thanks for the Schwinn link!Hilarious!Mr.Hipster himself ubder urban, complete with bag and scraggly almost beard-oh so cool mon.LOL
August 8th, 2010 @5:41 pm
@sloman – Hmm, I was under the impression that the paramount was manufactured by schwinn in their main factories for a while and then was moved to the waterford factories but it had always stayed in the US. I thought one of the big things about the paramounts was that the classic ones (at least) were high end US bikes. I thought the techniums were us built too at first at least. I’m not all too surprised if they weren’t after a while, raleigh has changed manufacturing locations so many times. I actually had a guy come into our shop that had a technium in my size in the color combination I want that he bought at a garage sale FOR 15 FUCKING DOLLARS!!!!! I wanted to offer to buy it for him but he wouldn’t have been able to get a bike that would be worth a damn for even 30 bucks and I already have too many bikes
My living room is basically a parking lot at the moment.
As far as the Huffys I’m thinking specifically of the old old huffy’s, mostly because we have a couple of vintage huffy cruisers at the shop that were made in the us and are definitely way solid bikes compared to their modern or even 10 year old counterparts. I actually love the one we have there because it’s the only huffy I’ve seen that is worth riding as far as I’m concerned
I agree on all the rest. I just like the old traditional bikes that I saw growing up and seeing the ones that are still nice in today’s mass manufacturing market and I hope like hell that it all still holds out. There are enough independent builders out there that I’m not worried about it, but with the popularity of carbon fiber bikes now and steel becoming more of a niche market I fear that the time of being able to ride a bike for 30 plus years is passing. I like the idea of being able to pass down my grandfather’s, my father’s, and my bikes to my kids one day and have them all be ridable. I won’t be able to do that with CF and I don’t want to pass down any shitty manufactured frames.
August 8th, 2010 @5:43 pm
Yeah, I dont’ understand how schwinn can put a picture like that on their already corny site and expect ANYONE to take them seriously.
August 8th, 2010 @7:28 pm
ya it is in the definition of whose is Schwinn?Paramount production started in the old factory buy soon became apparent that it interfered with production of bread and butter bikes.Hence the move to dedicated facility .Was Waterford Schwinn?Technium concept was brought to Raleigh from a NASA subcontractor Advanced Composites(or some such),an epoxy expert. They set up shop in I believe Bellingham Washington.Again.the frames said Raleigh but they weren’t from Nottingham.I don’t recall who made the Olympic team Huffys but it wasn’t Huffy. But like you say, steel(and aluminum)frame indys are all over the net,not inexpensive, but welding pipe and lugs is not rocket science(hell,I did it). It’s doing it well(never got that part rightLOL).cheers
August 8th, 2010 @7:34 pm
Checked out the Waterford Cycle site? Most droolworthy. What the Paramount was/is.enjoy

I just think silver components would brighten this up, silver Mavic CXP22/stem/seatpost, white tires/straps/tape. The deep v’s look gimmicky and the black neutralizes the frame. Hi ho silver!!
August 9th, 2010 @6:43 am
CS-that “Huffy”you like so much was probably made by Serotta.Nice taste.
August 10th, 2010 @10:11 am
Believe me, you don’t need to worry about the quality of Cinelli being affected. I feel that our quality has actually continually improved over the last few years. This is evident by the lower numbers of warranty returns I’m seeing. I think it’s great to see the discussion on here though.
Also, you will continue to see collabs, and special pieces from special artists etc from Cinelli. These aren’t shallow attempts to make money or cash in on a trend. Art is a huge part of Antonio Colombo’s life, and even owns his own gallery in Milano. It is a way for him to combine two things that he loves, art and bikes. It is one of the things we are very proud of, and feel like it sets us apart from other bike companies.
I wish you many great rides!
August 10th, 2010 @9:28 pm
please keep doing the collabs. the rvca was sick and i like that minty new mash. need a new frame and the gazzetta is on the top of the list just need to work out the finances.
September 9th, 2010 @5:37 am
This would look great with silver box rims, seat post and seat; but the flat black doesn’t compliment the somewhat matte and neutral frame. By the way, that crank is beautiful and could a nuclear explosion.
