Hi Guys:
This was my first singlespeed/fixed ride – and actually the first bike that I ever built from a frame set. Currently in the hands of a friend in London who’s ride was stolen. Found the pictures today and decided to post. Here it was set up as a singlespeed to give to him. It has spent a good portion of its life fixed. Brick Lane Bikes is a wonderful store in London catering mainly to the fixed community and messengers in particular. Lovely place and worth a visit if you are in town. They were very helpful helping me negotiate all of the information that I found around. It’s a nice bike no doubt.

solo orange rim ix overwhelming.pair up,orange or black(orange would be cool)looks fun.enjoy
August 9th, 2010 @3:32 pm
I appreciate your opinion as always bro but here I don’t agree – I like a touch of another color on a rear wheel. But you are probably right that it would be much more balanced.
August 9th, 2010 @10:46 pm
wow – not a comment huh? Whassssssup peeps? Don’t be shy – you can shred away if you wish… One of my favorite things on this build funnily is the brake levers. 1 finger wonders.
August 9th, 2010 @11:00 pm
Nice one, Fab.
August 9th, 2010 @11:02 pm
Same lever I have, ‘cept black. Picked it up at Brick Lane Bikes as my London souvenir.
August 9th, 2010 @11:34 pm
I like all the black and one orange rim. Those levers are cool too…kind of like the Paul E-lever. This frame reminds me of the IRO Angus I just built up.
August 10th, 2010 @10:23 am
those brake levers are hott. like to get my finger on sommadat…
August 10th, 2010 @10:38 am
um…you’ve got some expensive parts on there for how plain it looks. and non driveside when you have a miche advanced? for shame. orange wheel in front, orange tape, level bars–and the expensive parts will be justified (in my mind at least).
August 10th, 2010 @1:29 pm
This is an awesome first build. Cool seeing the pics of your early build after seeing the stuff you ride now. I like the asymmetry and color coordination of the bike. Looks like it was a cool ride.
August 10th, 2010 @2:44 pm
Nice one. I’m into the minimalism.
August 10th, 2010 @7:50 pm
@luft – I am sorry but to say that an aesthetic change would “justify” my choice of components doesn’t make too much sense to me. I don’t see how orange tape makes my Paul hubs roll more smoothly. Or an orange front wheel removes grams from my seat post. And overall I don’t think there is any “justifying” necessary. It’s simple solid frame and simple solid parts. Not to pick on you but your tone reminds of more twatish times..
–
@CS – that’s why I posted it bud. I thought it was funny. And it’s a good solid ride. It’s sometimes nice to see where you start.
August 10th, 2010 @9:17 pm
i like the idea of mis-matched wheels. sometimes i throw a 16 spoke road wheel on my own bike w/ the b43 on the back it looks like a hot rod (if only in my head). on this i think the orange rim and copper levers add a nice pop of colour.
August 10th, 2010 @11:20 pm
Excuse what you perceive as my “TWAT” attitude, Fab, but that was sugar coated. Regardless of feel, does that mean aesthetics should entirely be ignored? The only thing keeping this from a blackout is orange rim and levers, and if you honestly don’t care then good for you but in my opinion, regardless of feel, it seems pointless to buy expensive things that visually pass for the latter brand, that’s the tale of American capitalism. Ifs okay to debate but you don’t have to be an ass about it.
August 11th, 2010 @6:25 am
JFC luftmensh, the irony of you spitting out offhanded snobby comments and then calling someone an ass for calling you out for it is so thick you can walk on it. Also, if you’re going to talk about how proud you are of your writing in other posts, you shouldn’t make un qualified references and use giant run on sentences when you’re trying to sound smart. It’s counterproductive. I try to be objective when it comes to your comments, but overall you just come off like a giant prick. Grow up a bit please.
August 11th, 2010 @9:06 am
?
August 11th, 2010 @9:47 am
If you read my comment and honestly don’t know why I write it then you really need to rethink how you speak/type in general.
August 11th, 2010 @10:13 am
I’m just laying out my opinion on aesthetics in relation to budget, sorry if I came across as immature or disrespectful. I’m just broke, and when I see expensive parts used in a way that I find inappropriate to my own ideals it gets to me personally. It may sound condescending or snobbish, but it’s difficult to express my confusion and frustration in a way that doesnt offend others.
August 11th, 2010 @10:33 am
Take backs are easy and talk is cheap. When you say offensive stuff and then apologize later but still do it but it still happens what is the apology worth? If you don’t know what you’re saying don’t say it. I don’t even care about your first comment. If you feel like being a snob that’s fine. It’s your second comment where you call him an ass for commenting on your first comment where you were being an ass. ‘for shame’ <- that's being an ass. If you're saying it to try to sound smart and you don't realize it's offensive then don't say it b/c its not helping your case.
It's fine. Be an ass if you want to be an ass, but don't get mad and call someone else an ass when they call your ass out for being an ass.
August 11th, 2010 @10:46 am
Okay dude whatever you say. I guess calling someone a twat has become socially acceptable.
August 11th, 2010 @10:50 am
I like this build. it is a 10 and so is Federico’s and CS
‘s comments. Luftie ran out of charm fast, sorry. This build is really fine for a first or last, can more than one finger work the brake or is the leverage so wonderful? Nice colors all around.
August 11th, 2010 @10:52 am
Luftie, I thought Federico was being gently with the ish on the end of the adjective or is it a NOUN ?
August 11th, 2010 @10:52 am
Dude, HE’S CALLING YOU A TWAT BECAUSE YOU WERE BEING AN ASS TO HIM. Are you seriously not getting this? I’m not saying what he said was socially acceptable, but what can you expect when you’ve already made an asinine comment??! Do you call people on the phone and then get surprised that they answer it? Do you throw a ball in the air and then get surprised that it comes back down?? Cause and effect! You say something asshole-ish to someone and then he replies angrily, WHAT THE HELL DID YOU EXPECT TO HAPPEN??! Like I said, my problem was with your second comment calling him an ass for his reply. This is simple simple simple logic.
If you’re still having problems with this I hope you wear velcro shoes. Holy shit!
August 11th, 2010 @10:53 am
haaa luft vs cs bitch fight. i love it
August 11th, 2010 @10:57 am
I’m just astounded that someone can be so dense.
August 11th, 2010 @10:58 am
Federico, is the ride a bit harsh on this with the straight fork? wouldn’t a rake on the fork work better on all the brick work in England ?
August 11th, 2010 @11:06 am
Now insulting my intelligence, nice. My point is, in my first comment, yes I made a snobbish comment but I tried to be as polite as I could about it. I wasn’t blunt and I didn’t curse by saying something like “wow what a waste of fucking money.” I said “it looks plain,” which by my estimate isn’t all that rude considering everyone’s called the tank a drab tacky piece of shit monstrosity. I only called him an ass because he called me a twat, so I you think my first comment was “twatish” then fine but I don’t take back what I said. Have fun being insulting CS.
August 11th, 2010 @11:17 am
LOL. Don’t try to be a martyr. A lot of people came down harsh on your bike not because there is anything wrong with it, but because you talk like an ass. Another case of ‘what the hell did you expect’. I never asked you to take back what you said. In fact, I said that what you said is fine, it’s the way you responded that was stupid. You can say whatever you want to and I encourage you to. Just know that people are going to say whatever the hell they want to in reply and you shouldn’t be surprised when they shoot shit back at you. It’s the whole dish it but can’t take it scenario. You’re ‘trying to be nice’ about a comment that you freely admit is snobbish and surprised that someone called you a twat. JFC. If you don’t want your intelligence to be insulted THEN FUCKING USE IT. I used to think you were smart and were just saying stupid things to get attention, but I’m seriously starting to doubt that now.
August 11th, 2010 @11:32 am
What did I say about martyrdom? Boo hoo CS is making fun of me, someone called me a twat…
Is that better? Get off your high horse CS. He called me an ass, I called him a twat, what do you have to do with it? You don’t know a fucking thing about me, so why don’t you quit pretending to.
August 11th, 2010 @11:40 am
Sadly, I think we all know a lot more about you than you think.
August 11th, 2010 @11:41 am
Also, if you don’t know what a word means, look it up. If you don’t know how you were trying to be a martyr, its further proof that you’re an idiot.
August 11th, 2010 @11:43 am
Let’s face it Luftie likes to be the CENTER of attenton, be it good or bad. His bikes generate a lot of comments due to his style or lack thereof. Federico is a gentleman and only referred to twatish times , he was not direct and he puts together a nice bike with carefully chosen parts of obvious quality and defends his work as he should. Where are you JQnyc ? We know you are watching the action with pen in hand ! Cheers , I’m drinking a beer as we speak, it’s hot and humid in the plain old Mid West center of the Ashtabula Cranksters.
August 11th, 2010 @11:44 am
ok bla bla bla
i stopped reading the argument, but i have to agree with Luft in a way.
This site is about nit picking right? well, its got some nice components, but the overall, aesthetically speaking, it is my opinion the build needs a bit of work.
im not opposed to the one orange rim, but to make the orange work aesthetically i feel it needs one more touch of orange, and up front. yes i see the gold levers (which are a very nice touch btw)… wouldn’t an orange fork look really cool on this? this might be a tad tarckish but maybe a orange fyxation tire? or a tire with orange sidewall? (do they make that?)
i mean, as far as a functional bike for riding, its great and im sure a fun ride.
Do i like the look of it right now? sure! but do i think it would be much more aesthetically pleasing with one more touch of orange on the build to make the orange back rim more cohesive? definitely.
that is just one graphic designer’s opinion
August 11th, 2010 @11:59 am
Screw you CS. I know what a martyr is. This is what I’m talking about. Oh he doesn’t understand, he must be an idiot, is that what you tell the kids you worth with? With our differing perspectives I’m not going to understand everything you’re talking about and vice versa, and that doesn’t make me an idiot. I’m disappointed that you of all people would sink to the level of insulting me rather than help to share that perspective. This is the where you call me an idiot, right?
Thank you ill. All I was saying is if you’re going to spend big bucks it should look like it. I don’t mean gaudy or flashy, I mean it possesses style. I understand the concept of a “sleeper” in the sense of stealth hot rods that look ordinary on the outside and are horsepower monsters inside. Sure it handles like a race car. But if you want the race car feel, shouldn’t it look like one, too? I don’t know. I guess that’s just my insane opinion that appeals to one lone graphic designer. Have a nice day (and yes I mean it).
August 11th, 2010 @12:01 pm
Yes, dj and commented with style also. Not commented with a God like manner or the Holy See
August 11th, 2010 @12:10 pm
If you know what it means then you should know why I said not to be one with your comment about your bike.
This isn’t a matter of perspective. I’m not talking about the bike, or your opinion on the bike, or anyone else’s opinion on the bike. I’m talking about your lack of comprehension of logic and your problem of being able to dish it but not take it.
August 11th, 2010 @1:07 pm
biggie & pac all over again
August 11th, 2010 @1:30 pm
does that make me P-diddums? (thats what i call him lol)
August 11th, 2010 @1:52 pm
Logically I said his bike was plain, he called me a twat, I called him an ass, and this makes you think I’m an idiot. Am I missing something?
August 11th, 2010 @1:56 pm
And woody, I may have an ego but come on dude, get serious
August 11th, 2010 @1:59 pm
YES YOU ARE MISSING THE WHOLE ENTIRE FREAKING POINT!!!! I’ve said MULTIPLE TIMES now that I am talking about your second comment where you call him an ass for calling you a twat! Shit CAN YOU NOT READ?!??!!?!!
IT’S THE IRONY AND ILLOGIC OF YOU CALLING SOMEONE AN ASS FOR THEM CALLING YOU AN ASS FOR YOU BEING AN ASS!!!! If you don’t want to be called a twat DON’T BE AN ASS IN THE FIRST PLACE!
August 11th, 2010 @2:29 pm
and CS is being an ass for calling Luft an ass because he called fred an ass for calling him an ass for calling his bike an ass, and now im being an ass for calling out CS for being an ass for calling….nevermind
how bout this: pretty much all regulars on here are asses. but lets all keep the assitude to a minimal, capiche?
August 11th, 2010 @2:41 pm
no ill i vote for more beef
August 11th, 2010 @2:42 pm
Word, ill. CS, seriously dude, calm down. It’s really not worth freaking out about.
August 11th, 2010 @2:53 pm
Haha. Sup, you’re a handsome guy.
August 11th, 2010 @2:54 pm
i think Sup Fresher is a JERK because he is a lame panda faced beef eater. also, i think we should start internet fighting…ill start. SPINNING DROPKICK! *bam*
August 11th, 2010 @2:55 pm

August 11th, 2010 @3:21 pm
Wow! Loadsa comments already. I like the build. Looks like a fast town bike. Nowt wrong with flat bars being lower than the saddle. That’s racing stylee. Anyway, seat posts always seem to come in longer lengths than stems. Anyone here know why that is? I lived in Hackney til I was 24. Biked into the City on a daily basis from the age of 14. You gotta be quick, or crawl around in the gutter. This bike would be great for the former. Get it back of your mate before he wrecks it.
August 11th, 2010 @5:32 pm
@luftsmensh – you just kind of suck at talking/typing.
@everyone else – tiger uppercut.
August 11th, 2010 @6:37 pm
This bike deserves a higher voting average. Hard to figure lately. The ratio seems a bit high for the city 48/16
August 11th, 2010 @7:06 pm
CS: agreed.
August 11th, 2010 @9:41 pm
ok – I can’t even make it to the bottom of this. I do not pretend to be without opinions, but I will limit myself to only a few comments:
–
First, I think it would be pretty well agreed upon that Chris is one of the most helpful, thoughtful, informed and polite members of this group. So if he’s popping at you, Luft, it’s probably for good reason. As such, can I suggest for that for once it might be a good idea to stop being stubbornly defensive and listen. More than anything, he is pointing out that you have a tone, Luft, which is simply offensive. It’s been diluted recently, but always underlies what you say. Do our opinions matter one iota in your life? No. Nor do I pretend that they should. *But* if you are going to be part of this little virtual community, then you are subject to them. If you value your ability to be a prick, then you live with the consequences. It’s really that simple.
–
Second, to the point that started this. Yes, aesthetics are important. I would never argue against that. Maybe there is more orange needed. Maybe not. Either way, it doesn’t change anything with respect to what I think is MOST important about a bicycle. And to quote slo – it’s the contact points. If I have to choose where to spend my money – I will spend it on operational choices before aesthetic ones. Where did I spend my money on this bike? On hubs and the drive-train. How am I wasting my money because I didn’t choose your flavor of bar-tape? How am I throwing money away for choosing nice hubs with the “wrong color” rim? Are you kidding me? The argument is freaking idiotic. And I am not tossing the word around without knowing it. In addition, this frame is a classic, steel track geometry on which no money is wasted. You would be so lucky to have a BLB track frame.
–
Thirdly, and lastly, if we are going to write this one off as you being “a snob”, I am forced to make a few comments that will remove WSB’s ability to say I have been a “gentleman”. I believe I have made a significant effort towards you, Luft, during this last period. I tried hard to post things supporting you and trying to help you out irrespective to what I had thought before. It seemed like you had somewhat understood something and I like second chances. However…I don’t like nor have time for third chances. Life’s too short. So…
–
On the one hand, I do not think that one’s financial standing should limit their opinions on taste or style. On the other, how we each choose to spend our money, says more about our “taste” than what spouts from our mouths. In this respect, I have significant trouble seeing the source of snobbery in your army colored, Wal-Mart piece of crap. I hate almost everything about your bicycle. I hate its geometry. I hate its color. I hate the form of the tubes. I hate the angle of the top tube. I hate the material it’s made out of. I hate those absurdly long handlebars. I hate that idiotic brake lever. I hate the squat sawed down stem/headset. I hate the seat. I hate the seatpost. I hate the piece of crap cheap crank. I even hate the “Giant” label. I *totally* understand John Thompson’s comment about it looking like a “converted mountain bike”. And frankly – of all the “serious” bikes on here, from the most expensive to the least, I don’t think there has been any one that I disliked more. So forgive me if I care a rat’s ass about your “taste”.
–
To the rest of you, thank you if you had my back. And I am sorry you had to witness that.
August 11th, 2010 @10:13 pm
My Pleasure, well said. And you are still a gentleman, can I buy you a beer.?
August 11th, 2010 @10:26 pm
this is getting ugly. but i do agree w/ fab in that taste isn’t necessarily dictated by ones finacial state. case in point p.diddy. i don’t hate lufts bike it as a certain utilitarian feel to it i can appreciate it reminds me of a military issue hummer.
August 11th, 2010 @11:00 pm
With pleasure. And you are right Sup. But on occasion, it can be quite healthy to pop. You did notice that I apologized to the rest of you gentlemen.
–
WSB – first round’s on me. Especially if you’re in NYC.
August 11th, 2010 @11:13 pm
HAhahaa!!! Wow…I havn’t been reading much lately… Let the good times roll!! Seems like debating what looks good on a bike is pretty close to debating what looks on canvas. It’s just taste.. Respect doesn’t come in as many colors though.
August 11th, 2010 @11:36 pm
BTW…last time I was in NYC was to see the ‘The Gates’. This bike would go nicely..
August 12th, 2010 @12:22 am
huh..I saw this bike as soon as it came up with no comments, dont know how I missed it,oh well,I go with the general consensus that it needs another orange part,my guess would be an orange fork too,as ill stated.I just got me a diatech-tech99 which is the silver longer lever but same body, got it new off trademe auctions (NZ)for about $11 with the shims, for the price it worth drooling over.
@SUP I have a shimano 540 16 spoker rear that I think is so hotrod and that I use now and then, even tho the lycra wieght weenies think its the most dangerous wheel out for catastrophic…did I say that right?…failure, well duh obviously as it dont give you much spokes left to support,BTW got it out of a dumpster behind lbs with miner buckle, learnt to cross spoke true it back to perfect, personaly I think they are cool as but dont see many on here, even the 550s are cool and better made…oh well, this is a nice bike and has given me ideas for the project after the drillium bike is done
August 12th, 2010 @5:27 am
Have fun with your well built blackout then. I don’t give a fuck what you think about the tank. It may not be American made steel but it does what I need it to. And your suggestion for it? Scrap it? Sorry dude, I’ve had too much fun with it.
August 12th, 2010 @5:47 am
‘Welcome to CostCO, I love you’
August 12th, 2010 @5:48 am
Roll over it with a Real Tank, collect the insurance money and start over. Go back to the Fried Eggs and Bacon as your Logo Luftie and we all Love You . But can you Black out those Shoes?
August 12th, 2010 @5:54 am
CS, Costco has some nice utilitarian bikes at the stores I shop. No lugged frames but some decent rides leagues above Wal Mart. No I have not bought their bikes but they sell a fine assortment of beers.

@sup, lol I read it really fast and thought you were saying mia as in M.I.A. and I was about to fly off the handle (b/c that’s my girl). Mya’s pretty nice as well, good taste.
August 12th, 2010 @2:30 pm
I wouldn’t know. I bought the tank secondhand. If I could get my hands on a decent steel road frame I’d build myself something decent but I’m stuck with it for now.
August 12th, 2010 @2:46 pm
we are both out of the running on m.i.a she’s baby momma to the son of a billionaire now. new album is fresh though .

True true. God I would kill to have a chance, which I guess would be fitting if you and I had to thunder dome-ed it out. I’ve only heard a bit of her new album and wasn’t completely feeling it, but her first album was the same way so I’m up for giving it a chance.

The orange fork idea is BRILLIANT. I actually have something I could use for it already (when I sent back my orange Civilian for the alignment table, I asked Tyson to hand build me a chrome, flat crowned, lugged fork for it – SO I have the old straight blade orange fork lying around.)
–
You see – *this* is why we/I use this site. Perspective.
–
As regards how much you care about what I think of your Wal-Mart ride – thank god you don’t care. You wouldn’t be able to even look at it if you did. And just to make sure the record is straight, hubs aside, I am 100% sure that I spent less on this bike than you did on the Tank. EVERYTHING (excepting hubs, rims and crank) was second hand from Brick Lane Bikes’ value bin. And for what it’s worth – I don’t like the black seat post and stem either. If I ever take this back from my mate, there are a number of changes that I would consider.
August 12th, 2010 @9:39 pm
It isn’t from WAL-MART dude, maybe if you knew your facts you’d know Giant is a reputable bicycle manufacturer that only sells privately and not to garbage places like Wal-Mart and Costco. Speaking of facts, you mentioned most of your parts came from the “value bin.” Really? A Phil Cog, Diatech Levers, and Shimano 105 brakes and SPD Pedals were in the “value bin”? I’d like to see the receipt for that one. Regardless of what you paid, your bike is easily valued well over $1000, and I paid literally HALF that. So piss off, mate, it’s no wonder mine looks what it is for what I paid. And believe me, if I had $1000 to spend it sure as shit would have been better spent than “Chesham Mews.” Cheerio.
August 12th, 2010 @10:09 pm
I am well familiar with Giant. And have I respect for them. I owned a Giant mountain bike when I went to school in PDX and it was stolen. I liked it. So yes, it’s not Giant’s fault that your bike is an absolute monstrosity.
–
Maybe I should better define the “Value bin”. Brick Lane bikes is the premier track and fixie store in London. They have a “program” for customers where they help facilitate exchanges and sales of used gear. So as you upgrade parts over the years, you can sell them through the store. Generally it works out for all parties involved – sellers get much more value – say 50-70% of original cost, sometimes more; and buyers who don’t mind used gear get a nice discount. Plus if you buy something from Brick Lane, you know you can then pass it on. However, you are right. I didn’t spend $500. More like $650. The hubs killed me.
–
But lastly, because I would really like this to be over as it’s a complete waste of time and energy, I could give two shits about your bike one way or the other. Truly. If you weren’t such an arrogant fucknut that spouted like a tourettes affected fire hose, I would take your advice with much pleasure.
August 13th, 2010 @12:09 am
It is poss to get deals out there from ” bargain bins” I’ve ordered a pair of Shimano MT21 shoes and a pair of Shimano M520 clipless pedals for the grand total of £43 off Chain Reaction Cycles. That’s probably less the retail price in most stores. It pays to look around. Cheers guys.
August 13th, 2010 @5:22 am
Arrogant fucknut that spouted like a tourettes affected fire hose. I like that. On that note, I think we’ll be friends yet
August 13th, 2010 @6:27 am
Good choice of phrase, Fab. I should copy and paste that to my mirror , good tone to avoid. But it is hard to change the spots on a Leopard.
August 13th, 2010 @6:34 am
This bike looks fine with the black fork. Sell the orange one. And Luftie the Tank would look ridiculous with black Drops. Put a gyro front brake on and do Bar Spins it looks Free Style anyway.
August 13th, 2010 @7:29 am
@ you’re in a 3 way brawl now. i must say this very entertaining.
@cs i feel the same way about the new album w/ the exception a couple of songs it doesn’t hit you right away. and there isn’t a “paper planes”(the clash sample on that was so genius) on it but it is good.
@ alan deano was the man, but i’m more of a serge gainsborg guy.

@ alan you should check out seu jorge he’s black and brazilian but he’s got a dean martain like swagger about him.
that effortless cool you spoke of.
August 13th, 2010 @10:57 am
Johnny Mathis also very cool voice, even when he was very young.
August 13th, 2010 @12:57 pm
@Luft – I always appreciate when someone takes the higher road in the interest of ending butting heads. So thank you. And I apologize for some of my harsh words.
August 15th, 2010 @5:27 am
This is great! The book I have been attempting to read has been open next to my bed, feeling like a red headed stepchild for weeks now. This is much more entertaining. Someone pick a fight with me. My bike has stickers. If yours doesn’t, it’s shit. Lick my balls, fags.
August 15th, 2010 @5:29 am
Plus, since we are all being helpful with the suggestions about balance and so on, how about orange spokes on the front?
August 15th, 2010 @11:05 pm
@ aarcad i want to beef but i have stickers. we gotta find something else to beef about.
August 17th, 2010 @11:27 am
Orange front hub would look cool.
August 17th, 2010 @1:06 pm
I don’t know what all the fussing is about. I agree with fab that this was built with quality parts but also agree with luftmensh that this could use some more color. As far as justifying quality with aesthetics, there just isn’t much logic to the argument, but I do see his point. Vintage cruisers for example have a great amount of respectable style and yet the quality of materials is not always at its best. I suppose luftmensh has made a case for the opposite argument, albeit harshly and hastily.
August 17th, 2010 @1:13 pm
to beat this horse into the ground some more, i think what luft was getting at is:
1) functionality first!
2) aesthetics second…but if going for high quality functionality-wise, the next step is getting the looks to match the components. not to say this bike is ugly, it looks nice….
i dunno, like having a really nice old school mustang or something, but with an unfinished/just primered body…completing the build is getting a nice n pretty paint job.
that was a pretty horrible analogy lol
but fab, you said you have an orange fork?? i think this bike would look soooooo cool with it on
August 17th, 2010 @1:33 pm
Personally, I like riveted leather saddles, cork grips, cream tires, etc. and some people may find this qualitatively and aesthetically inferior. But if you enjoy the way your bicycle rides then it’s quality in my book.
August 17th, 2010 @2:08 pm
@punch,I would agree with you there, minds change, things happen, one mans ugly is alot mores nice and vice versa, maybe I should post my ss beachcruiser with its fat whitewalls and chrome galour
August 17th, 2010 @2:09 pm
@Punchblade, how does the cream tires make your bike ride better. Are you talking about tires made of a different material?
Not trying to be an ass, just curious.
August 17th, 2010 @3:28 pm
No offense taken, CS; I appreciate curiosity. Specifically the schwalbe delta cruiser or fat frank style, in which case they do ride better. But no I didn’t mean to imply any performance advantage or disadvantage of “cream” colored tires. They’re just my personal preference. I do, however, enjoy the look and feel of the schwalbes though.
August 26th, 2010 @8:11 pm
I have not heard from Luftie for a while having been out of town myself. Is he excoriated or excommunicated ? or did he crash on his brakeless Super duper Grand Prix. ?
August 26th, 2010 @8:19 pm
As for stickers, I have spent too much time removing them. Cool individualized stickers are OK but not for advertising on my bike. It is annoying when names are painted on a nice frame. I would sticker over my Trek name if I had a decent sticker. Need one from New Zeeland perhaps. (spelled in the Dutch fashion) or from Amsterdam by gosh. White Horse Beer would be cool also.
August 26th, 2010 @8:26 pm
I’m comment #100.nananana.
August 26th, 2010 @9:58 pm
Slo you’re #1 and 100. you should win something.
August 26th, 2010 @10:09 pm
Luftmensh probably ditched his user name and started a new one and is laying low with his self absorbed and often misguided comments, at least that’s my theory.
August 26th, 2010 @10:28 pm
I thought Luft had changed his ways and was getting along better… I know there was some beef but I thought that got squashed. Maybe he’s working on a new bike.
August 26th, 2010 @11:34 pm
@WSB,what type of stikers do you want from New Zealand?
the Luft can’t be gone,he prolly having a break and meditating on new ideas and horizons
August 27th, 2010 @5:43 am
Any stickers from New ZEALAND or wherever, I can order some and swap with others . I have a Huffy frame coming and would like to obliterate old labels and do something expressive. Thanks. Maybe Luft is behind in internet costs and is spending it on Tankquery ?
August 27th, 2010 @2:11 pm

@fab,1 fingers are the bomb,I myself am after the very rare oldskool 1 finger MX bmx brake levers,2 finger are hard enuff to get here in NZ,NOS go for $75 plus, secondhand maybe $30,so 1 finger would be equel to a flawless diamond:),aven’t seen any on the bikes here but am only 3rd the way through the archive pics tho

I like this better than spyro killer . Federico have you discovered the new Luftie ?
October 3rd, 2010 @5:16 am
Hola, Federico. Do you want a lucky charm or a card while away ? need address .
October 3rd, 2010 @6:35 am
Haha! Just noticed ‘Punchblade’s’ comments about agreeing with ‘Luftmensh’. GOLD!
October 3rd, 2010 @11:32 am
Yes, Aarcadian, birds of a feather like Puffins , in step with themselves. I agree with myself most of the time also.
November 16th, 2010 @9:03 pm
Federico, you may want to put a 19 cog on this if you have not ridden for a while. How goes it ?
November 17th, 2010 @10:53 am
I emailed him a bit ago…haven’t heard anything. Hope you’re well and riding, Fab.
December 9th, 2010 @9:09 am
why is this bikes rating so high?
February 4th, 2011 @6:38 pm
@Florian, because it gives a better ride than Barnacle Bob. Why is Barnacle Bob rated higher ? and where are you Fabiola ?
June 28th, 2011 @12:38 pm
I just love this color combination. It gets me every time, every bike.
November 7th, 2011 @12:52 pm
If anything I would just do the orange wheel and no other orange.
November 21st, 2011 @9:32 pm
the double gold finger brakes really freaks me out.
November 21st, 2011 @10:33 pm
bit simple.
December 19th, 2011 @9:13 am
Hey! did you know this is Brick Lane Bikes Track Frame!LOL Yep,sweet and simple. Too bad they seem to have gone all loud colors and hipster flash lately. Their website is bizzaro.
January 8th, 2012 @10:29 am
Orange wheel actually kind of annoys me, either more orange or no orange
