80′s benotto racer. Work in process

First attempt. Handlebar made from old french griptape and shellac. Needs new tires, pedals, brakes and a good cleaning. Any suggestions??

tighten that chain. leather straps, cages, white tires?

And take off back brake, and maybe just black tires. I don’t find white tires ever look that great after awhile.

I was just gonna put on some all black tires. Think it will look cleaner. And obv some leather straps for the pedals. Im not taking off the back brakes. I have to have them on by dansih law. I was thinking maybe some crome brakes would look better. Any thoughts?

taunt the chain, add cages, loose the skewers. I also might bump up the tire size to either 25 or 28, but would stick with gum walls. like the frame and the tape looks great!

I agree you should stick with gum walls, they look good with the honey saddle and bar tape. I’m a big fan of MKS Sylvan track pedals. And put cages w/ brown leather straps on them. Also, back brake is a bit redundant with a fixie.

Good looking bike! Is Benotto the same company that made the old style handlebar tape? It used to look shiny and thin (no gel padding) but could possibly be reused?

Two brakes and no foot retention may indicate a single speed, at which point both are justified.

It is a singlespeed bike, thats why i put two brakes on it. @Dave: yes its the same company. Def. going to put cages with brown leather on it. Gonna put all black tires on it cause it will look better. Was thinking of putting another decal on the vertical frame tube. Any thoughts about that???
