Nice build. Very clean and silver. Dig the colors. I’d go with a silver chain and level the saddle a bit.

You know it’s funny- personalities on a message board evolve and each of us has things they tend to focus on- some hate to see a good road frame go to waste, others dislike risers and always call for drops, others hate rides without brakes, some always call for bar tape or grips. I think am becoming a hater of colored chains. And I don’t really know why. They aren’t unsafe. There is nothing performance wise that they affect. And they could be something that helps bring some colors together. Not for me though- I think they look like plastic, Toys-R-Us accessories and just can’t get past that. I do realize it’s probably a personal failing

And this is a beautiful lugged frame with a great looking fork (part 2 of my tastes)!

colored chains go against the standard of mechanical purity that is the basis of fixie fixation(sometimes I even impress myself).Colors on less essential pieces yes,but the chain is too central to be trifaled with.I wish there was more choice of style like old roller or 1 inch or brass links maybe, something more than paint.Colors do look cheap.

I love the irony of the first couple of pictures. Well maybe not irony as much as setting humor. I like this bike. Yeah I’m not a big fan of colored chains either. I they seem too cheesy. Kind of like those chain guards that looked like stretchy straws. Really my only gripe is the seat angle.

This is what I really love (and miss) about my country! Where else are you going to find a sweet steel lugged frame like this one in a department store? Although when I say “miss” I mean it as much as being out of the country as I do that Italy isn’t like this anymore…

Maybe Poland, or Brazil.

Looks pretty good. sloman what is wrong with brake mounting ? as for colored chains ,like bras for women, Black is sexier .

it looked at a extreme angle to me but it might be just the picture.anyone know a supplier for antique 1 inch gears and chain?Probably hidiously expensive,

There are some ammmmmmazing 1″ campy cranks still being sold so I would be stunned if there weren’t reasonably easy chains – try smartbikeparts.com

a one inch chain would make me feel like i was pedaling a tank
July 27th, 2010 @10:30 pm
Agreed
July 27th, 2010 @10:31 pm
Which is why i never understood those cranks. Ok maybe its teeth at 1″ and so you lose the weight of all the other teeth but is that so much weight? What’s the purpose sloman
July 28th, 2010 @12:30 am
no real purpose other than interesting project for the right frame.thank for the heads up info.Campy 1 inch!Wow!
July 28th, 2010 @3:05 am
That’s insane.
July 28th, 2010 @12:31 pm
anodised chain links?,I like colored chains but only the ones that have colored plates only and untouched rollers and pins, anodizing would make the chain more “metalized?”,duno about 1 inchers but yer would work with that period time bike, could be worse…..micro 1/4inch chain and nano cranks

ever seen an old skip tooth crank.evil looking critter.
July 28th, 2010 @3:26 pm
Good to see old frames getting used. Tidy bike. 1 inch chains sounds like a meat mangler.

Yer I seen 1inchers,they look like A prop that a borrow movie guy would use in an old mechanical machine set in a basement,be cool if someone did a modern take on the skip tooth
