ditch the Turbo for something black and not another Turbo and you got yourself a dope bike.
January 19th, 2012 @1:41 pm
Is the fork bent?
January 19th, 2012 @2:02 pm
If I wanted to go for a “dope bike” I would get some Leader frame, dual Aerospokes, perhaps a disc wheel just because I decided I would spend my Financial Aid on my bike, and some TITE GAPZ BRO straight bars with Ourys. Not to be passive-aggressive or anything
Function over form. Best saddle I’ve ever graced with my ass.
The fork isn’t bent, but the down and top tube are. The previous owner must have rode into something hardcore, that’s why they gave it to Goodwill.
January 19th, 2012 @2:18 pm
Dylan, you seem like a fuck. I hope you taco bike into a fat bitch.
January 19th, 2012 @2:27 pm
Cool story bro. Subjective reality reigns.
January 19th, 2012 @2:27 pm
so the tubes are bent and you are riding it,submitting here and get pissed when someone notices? What a jackass.
January 19th, 2012 @3:27 pm
Fat bitches need lovining… Stay hard dylan

I wasn’t upset about him pointing out that my bike is broken, I fully acknowledge that, I was merely mocking the entire concept of aesthetics over practicality. I do admit I was being a dick, but some people take words too seriously, like I did.
January 19th, 2012 @4:25 pm
what’s so functional about that big booger hanging off the seat? Red flag on the pedal’s black plastic dust covers…what pedals are those?
January 19th, 2012 @9:19 pm
Aesthetics over practicality? This site is for folks who revel in a combination of both. I’m not sure why you posted a bike if you couldn’t take some criticism. A bike with bent tubes nonetheless – how practical is that?
January 20th, 2012 @1:01 am
Nice conversion. The frame doesn’t look that bent or banged up but the fork sort of does.. I’f there’s no visible cracks you should be ok riding it..
January 20th, 2012 @9:06 am
cant believe someone would really complain about the “pedal’s black plastic dust covers”. fucking lame…
this is a nice conversion. who gives a fuck if he has some acorn hanging off his seat?
and WHAT THE FUCK! is wrong with a white turbo???
you guys are crazy…
January 20th, 2012 @9:41 am
its nice, i dig it.
i would suggest to level the saddle up a touch (so would sheldon brown).
i like the white turbo personally.
im personally not fond of track grips on risers. i would prefer actual riser grips, like ourys or something.
i personally would add a front brake. i know allot of people think front brakes on street fixed gear bikes look dumb/bad but i actually like how a single front brake looks. plus its a little bit of backup safety.
anywho overall its a good build
-D
January 20th, 2012 @9:42 am
and i personally just realized i personally use personally way too much, personally lol
i guess i just dont want to be like “omg that sucks bla bla bla” and more like “its my personal opinion that blablabla” etc.
January 20th, 2012 @11:35 am
Good build. I like that it’s a white Turbo over the usual black. Shave the cable guides. Get some quality clips/straps and a brake. I like the track grips – a change from the usual Ourys, which I’ll admit to having too, but they’re comfortable and last forever. Since when is a straight bar with Ourys trendy? Give the kid a break. Function over form is evident in the lack of flashy colors and parts, and a great frame saved from scrapping that will get some more well-deserved use out of it.
January 20th, 2012 @12:58 pm
Good build!!?Needs a better seat!!!? People!! The friggin frame is BENT!! End of discussion, throw it out, give it to a crackhead, put it in the gardem tp hang wind chimes from! But don’t ride it,submit it or waste parts on it. A bent fork can be changed out-a frame no.
January 20th, 2012 @1:18 pm
yes, structural integrity . . . with or without a shitty white Turbo saddle. That was my last jab, Dylan. Tell your girl I said “Hey.”
January 20th, 2012 @1:36 pm
As long as there’s no visible cracks or creases in the metal I personally
don’t consider a frame dead. There is a lot of resilience in steelt. I don’t know how many frames and forks I have cold set back into shape with no problems..
January 20th, 2012 @5:37 pm
most of the “regulars” who comment on here are fuckin twats
January 20th, 2012 @9:18 pm
Let the record show I don’t hate this and I am not a twat. Slo on the other hand…
January 20th, 2012 @10:05 pm
ya,I guess I’m just old school and bent crashed frames are the new cool.
January 20th, 2012 @11:10 pm
3Rensho and conversion don’t belong in the cycling vernacular
January 21st, 2012 @1:17 am
If he hadn’t said it was bent, slo, would you have noticed? I’ve seen much worse “crashed” frames still on the road, and on this site. You know, golf ball craters in the top tube. Or, “It was run over by a bus but it’s still rideable.” I would have a hard time throwing this away. Heck, I’m drawn even to the bikes AT the dump. If I was that concerned to ride it, I’d mount it above my couch and stare at it.
January 21st, 2012 @1:19 am
Btw, get over yourself Wes.
January 21st, 2012 @9:42 am
nice build. like the white turbo and the frame is straight up ballin’!
January 21st, 2012 @11:42 am
Yes I did notice.Yes I have had frames worse than this whereupon I straightened, coldset, even once replaced the downtube(not that hard on a lugged frame,it was a freebee Bianchi victim of a roof-rack). After that I worried about saddle color, ect. But that’s me.
January 22nd, 2012 @1:01 pm
Plain and simple, I think it’s a clean and cool build (besides the bent frame). But I still dig it and would ride it till the wheels fell off.
January 22nd, 2012 @6:58 pm
Well said. I don’t care about the bend.
January 22nd, 2012 @7:12 pm
I just have standards that don’t include bent frames.
January 23rd, 2012 @10:58 am
I’m under the impression that the frame is structurally sound unless the damage is “catastrophic,” compromising tube strength, balance, and rideability. I’m not say this is definitively sound but it looks like it to me. If this frame was a low end Schwinn or Raleigh I wouldn’t hesitate to scrap it, because those are common and easily replaceable. However, this is a Japanese track frame, and it would have to be “taco’d into a fat bitch” as chauncey billops said for me to throw it away.
January 23rd, 2012 @12:56 pm
Yes!
January 25th, 2012 @11:25 am
I would really like it if someone would elaborate as to why/how my fork is bent. I realize that if there were a forward collision inflicted on the bike, as I assumed already, the fork would be taking the most impact.
I have studied my fork, along with other forks and I personally can’t see anything wrong. If anything, it appears bent because the bike is leaning against the wall. The risers are wider than the rest of the bike, so it is tilting it slightly, thus giving the illusion of it being bent. But, I honestly don’t know anything, obviously.
I really do appreciate those who understand my mentality. I also understand that a bent frame isn’t ideal or safe, but if I die doing what makes me feel most free, then I feel that that is a great death, for it is inevitable and ever encroaching.
Front brake is taken off for aesthetics, I enjoy drive-chain control combined with a brake. I will mess with my seat, but I haven’t been more comfortable on a seat ever. My leg extension is comfortable and allows for efficient cadence. But again, I don’t know anything, because I don’t follow what everyone and their dog do with their bikes like a mindless fad chaser.
