This is my grandpas bike that he bought new as a kid. Handlebars, brooks seat, front wheel, and the paint job are not original. Let me know if you have any info on the bike, and also what you tink of it.

Yeah, I would match the wheels. Either silver or the red. Otherwise, I tink its great. You do your grandpa proud.

Saddle, handlebar, and bell are good match to originals.

Looks good. I like the double top bar. prefer silver rims front and rear.

Very cool. I would go in and do white sidewalls. And a tiger head/stem combo. And go on a big adventure!

I agree with Butterz.. I’ve seen setups similar to this with white walls, and they always look sharp. However that’s more of a 50′s style (if I’m not mistaken) and this bike is from the 30′s. I wonder which is more true to the time period.
What is that piece of metal all the way in the front? It looks like part of the fender mount… or maybe from a missing rack of some kind. ? it looks like an extra part with no use.
Are you going to dress this old bird up, or are you just restoring it a roadworthy condition?

^ josh, i can’t remember the name of it exactly, but that assembly connecting to the head tube acts a stabilizer; some had springs, and worked like a rudimentary version of suspension. correct me if i’m wrong, but i think creme balloon tires were more popular. even if they weren’t that would look great, as well as matching silver wheels. very cool when you’ve got family history in a build.

I have an old Hercules and have just thought that converting to fixed gear may be simplest way to get it rolling again.
Did you do all work on your bike yourself or get a third party to do it for you? If the latter, where was that?
